JOB SUMMARY:

This position is accountable for the gathering, tracking, and analyzing of key metrics related to some of Marriott's most mission-essential, revenue generating applications and Infrastructure. Additionally, this position leads the search for and use of tools and systems to develop a better understanding of the availability and performance of these key applications. This position coordinates and leads efforts between Marriott associates, Service Providers and Business Discipline teams to achieve both repeatable and ad-hoc goals. Finally, this position participates in incident and problem investigations where standard operating procedures are not effective in resolving issues.



CANDIDATE PROFILE

Required Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in information technology

Undergraduate degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience/certifications

2+ years recent experience with data collection and analysis methods

2+ years recent experience with tools and systems used to monitor the health of applications and/or infrastructure both in real-time and over a period of time.



Preferred Qualifications

Expert technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards for capacity and performance management.

Experience in varied technologies (e.g. telecommunications, client server architecture, eCommerce infrastructures, enterprise and workgroup server platforms, Web applications, etc.)

Strong knowledge of the best available tools, software, applications, and systems for attaining best-in-class IT technology across the enterprise.

Experience in multiple technical infrastructure and/or application design areas and in technology management.

Experience in core enterprise applications, application development tools.

Knowledge of software evaluation principles and practices.

Excellent understanding of change management and testing requirements, techniques, and tools.

Ability to create constructive relationships, influence, and communicate (to project team, IT management, and non-technical staff).

Ability to lead complex, cross-functional problem-solving initiatives.

Experience in researching emerging technologies and trends, standards, and products.





CORE WORK ACTIVITIES



Tracking the Performance and Availability of Applications and Infrastructure

Gathers, tracks, analyzes and reports on key data related to availability and performance of several key Marriott systems

Ensures application performance meets agreed upon service levels

Gathers and analyzes current system performance metrics to predict performance and capacity impacts; seeks ways to proactively improve performance

Researches and evaluates emerging tools and processes to improve the team's ability to collect, analyze and act

Collaborates with the IT Delivery organization and Service Providers to plan to improve availability or performance of key systems

Forecasts future requirements for new resources to support IT applications

Makes data driven operational recommendations and validates recommendations meet business needs and expectations

Evaluates performance of new and modified application technologies

Building Successful Business Relationships and Partnerships

Partner with organizations across the enterprise to understand changes to the landscape and performance implications

Collaborates with Project Managers and business unit leaders across the IT organization for all projects involving enterprise development and build

Transfers functional knowledge of application performance and capacity management to the broader IT organization to build functional acumen
