The Developer II will participate in the technical delivery of projects for the Customer Order Management, assist in driving all aspects of the project from design through delivery to production.  The Developer II has knowledge in one or more programming languages or databases.  This person must have an excellent understanding of the IT project life cycle, trends in the IT landscape and be able to influence IT leadership on streamlining those processes. The Developer II is honing the skills needed to guide and direct project teams in requirements definition, design, development and testing of complex applications/ programs.  This person must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. 


Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Our group supports the applications used by Home Depot employees to create and manage customer orders.  We currently have a mix of custom java applications and 3rd party software (IBM Sterling Commerce)
We are looking for a strong developer to join our team to help us during our shift to a more seamless interconnected retail environment


Essential Requirements:

-Ability to analyze existing solutions and understand how to transition them into modern order management system behaviors
-Solid knowledge of java architectures and development constraints
-Experienced working on Relational Databases (Oracle, D2b, SQLLite etc).
-Knowledge of Restful Web Services (and the right way to use them)
-Java application performance tuning and optimization
-Ability to learn new development languages and solutions
-Understanding of modern source control tools such as: GIT, SVN, or TFS
-XML, XSLT,XSD and J2EE technologies

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -

  • Take business requirements and develop the total technical design for assigned mid-sized projects and ensure proper usage as part of the design efforts in building a system to be put into production.
  • Follow the established processes, policies, standards and procedures to assure compliance with corporate and regulatory policies and standards.
  • Conduct appropriate test reviews on assigned projects as necessary. Present findings and offer solutions to management.

 

NATURE AND SCOPE -

  • Typically reports to Manager, Information Technology
  • No direct responsibility for supervising others.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must pass the Drug Test.
  • Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses.

 

EDUCATION REQUIRED -

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.
