This position is responsible for managing a team of Instructional Designers who create, modify, and enhance a diverse array of courses for the purpose of improving the performance of the organization. The focus of this work is managing and maintaining curriculum paths in support of a wide range of jobs within T-Mobile primarily with a frontline employee focus. A Manager position, the successful candidate will direct a team of Instructional Designers in addition to reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Learning and Development.Enterprise Core CompetenciesRequires competency in customer focus, change & innovation, strategic thinking, relationship building & influencing, talent management, results focus and inspirational leadership.Essential Functions
  • Develop and maintain a consultative relationship with key stakeholders to identify curriculum requirements
  • Manage, support & develop a team of Instructional Designers with the following:
    • Apply instructional design theory and techniques for adult learners, and utilize established curriculum development methodology in the design and development of appropriate, effective curriculum
    • Conduct needs analyses, validate need for training, and identify learning objectives
    • Work with subject matter experts to obtain information and validate courseware content
    • Ensure all training meets and supports T- Mobile's Sales Operations Excellence initiatives and measurements
    • Maintain a 'hands-on' approach to the curriculum by having first-hand experience with the subject matter being trained.
    • Ensure all training meets and supports T-Mobile's quality initiatives and measurements.
    • Coach and develop team perform at high levels
  • Assure overall quality of the curriculum to exceed customer expectations; this includes all course materials, Train the Trainers, tools, and other resources.
  • Work with vendors as needed to develop assessments, content, systems, etc.
  • Promote best practice in adult learning techniques, instructional design and learning objective setting for all levels of participant.
  • Coordinate implementation of newly developed curriculum with internal customers, Training Delivery partners, and partner management.
  • Partner with other internal learning groups to share best practices. Partner with Senior Manager to evaluate the effectiveness of training by developing and implementing post- instruction evaluation tools and criteria, such as evaluations, focus groups and learning observations.


Minimum Required
  • Two to four years of experience managing a training or curriculum team.
  • Ability to work within a collaborative environment, multi-task, and work within aggressive timeframes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; effective interpersonal and team work skills.
  • Experience applying a systematic instructional design approach to the creation of learning programs.
Desired
  • Three to five years of experience developing training materials for wireless, retail, or related industries.
  • Three to five years leading successful teams
  • Experience in rapid design working in a competitive, fast paced environment
  • Knowledge of sales & service models and customer experience measurement programs
EducationMinimum Required
  • Bachelors' Degree. Instructional Design, Education, Business, Communication or related field
  • Four years of program/project management work experience may be considered in lieu of degree
