Our mission at Break Time is to provide fast and friendly service in a clean and well-merchandised store. A Break Time Assistant Manager assists and supports the store manager in meeting and surpassing this objective. Assistant Managers help build a trained and knowledgeable team that operates following company policies and procedures to ensure safety, maximum sales and profitability. They assist the store manager with all areas of the operation as directed. 


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:


1. Assist the store manager with all areas of the operation, as directed, including proper execution of marketing initiates and implementation of new programs.
2. Adhere to and enforce the Break Time Sales Associate position description. Be able to perform all duties and responsibilities expected of a Break Time Sales Associate.
3. Make sure store is opened and closed at times determined by the District Supervisor.
4. Assist the store manager with goals that result in meeting or exceed the store budget, in terms of sales, inside profit margins, and cost control goals; (cost control goals include food service, payroll costs, inventory loss, damaged merchandise, store supplies, and cash shortages).
5. As assigned or in the absence of the store manager, assist with administrative duties in an accurate, complete, and timely manner; including daily deposits, daily, weekly, and monthly paperwork and reports.
6. Strictly adhere to all corporate cash procedures, and strictly support enforcement of corporate cash policies in the store.
7. Handle customer relations in an efficient and courteous manner and provide for maximum customer satisfaction in a friendly environment. Support the store manager with ensuring professional communication is taking place in the store at all times.
8. Maintain standards of general maintenance in the store at all times, including equipment. IIM\Immediately inform the store manager of all major equipment problems.
9. Follow all Break Time dress codes, and support adherence to the uniform policy, and the personal appearance policy at all times.
10. Support and assist the manager as directed to enforce all company policies and procedures within the store including expectations set forth in Break Time training module. Utilize Vendor/Visitor logs, PCI pump inspections, Duty Checklists, the Performance Evaluation, the Store inspection Report, the Sales Associate Operations Manual, the New Hire Orientation, the Manager Planner and Organizer, the 'Manager's Training and Procedure Manual, and the Material Safety Data Sheets' manual to assist in adherence to and enforcement of company policies, procedures, and expectations. Know where all company manuals are located within the store for quick referral.
11. Communicate all safety and security concerns to the store manager.
12. Assist with ordering to ensure the store is properly stocked at all times with all items necessary to meet our customer needs and Break Time standards. This involves assistance with proper ordering and receiving of all merchandise and supplies.
13. Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations concerning all facets of store operation. Assure familiarity with emergency procedures including (but not limited to) customer/associate injury and fuel related safety issues. Support and assist the store manager with training to ensure proper procedures, as well as laws and regulations are consistently followed when dealing with alcoholic beverage and tobacco sales.
14. In the absence of the store manager, check gasoline and diesel fuel levels daily, to within 1/8 inch, to assure proper inventory control. This should be done at the same time daily department totals are taken for purposes of closing out the day.
15. Monitor competitors' refined oil prices in the absence of the store manager, and report to store manager (or district supervisor in the absence of the store manager).
16. Assist with review of applications and interviewing of applicants as directed by the store manager.
17. Assist with training of team members using standard Break Time training procedures, and all required documents. 
18. Work along with sales associates behind the counter to ensure all facets of the store operations are handled in an efficient manner.
19. Assist the store manager to maintain a high degree of morale and enthusiasm among associates and professional communications within the store.
20. Provide the store manager with feedback regarding employee performance and assist with identifying areas of strength1 and developing improvement plans for those areas needing improvement.
21. Attend store meetings and required training sessions.
22. Openly communicate on a regular basis with the Store Manager and District Supervisor on any and all areas of concern, or areas beyond assistant store manager authority.
23. Perform all other duties as assigned or requested.


AUTHORITY LIMITS:

Provides support for store manager and provides feedback regarding store operations and recommendations for improvements.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year related experience and/or training; six months employment with Break Time or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must complete all training programs for sales associates and assistant managers.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to customers, vendors and sales associates.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


 REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
