Associate Director Underwriting - Minnetonka, MN

This individual will ensure that the business meets its strategic profit and growth objectives and is managed within the risk tolerance guidelines. This individual will be accountable for overseeing the production of the rating and underwriting services for new business and / or existing accounts. They will participate with senior management in the development and implementation of underwriting policy, marketing and business strategy.Primary Responsibilities:

Manage a dynamic and highly motivated staff of 4+ underwriters and administrative support
Train and develop a team of underwriters
Monitor financial performance and provide direction as necessary
Financial forecasting / budgeting
Strategic thinking on continued growth
Ability to create and develop strong working partnership within a matrix organization

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Math, Finance or related degree
5+ years of experience with healthcare underwriting for any variety of products: PPO, HMO, self-funded, ASO / fully-insured, group or individual.
5+ years management experience.
Superior oral and written communication skills.
An intermediate level of proficiency with MSWord, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to create pivot tables in Excel is preferred.
Must be organized, detail oriented and able to translate big picture ideas into client objectives.
Must have strong negotiation and persuasion skills
Preferred Qualifications:

Medicare Advantage underwriting experience is preferred but not necessary.
