Transport Nurse - FL Emergency Medical Services -

Florida Hospital seeks to hire a Transport Nurse who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.

Florida Hospital Facility Profile:

Florida Hospital Winter Garden will feature a free-standing, state of the art emergency department that will serve the West Orange Community. The facility will also include an outpatient imaging center, outpatient surgery center, outpatient laboratory services and a multispecialty clinic that will include a variety of physician practices to serve the community's needs. This three-story 97,000-square-foot facility is projected to open in early 2016.

Department Profile:

Our Emergency Department is based on a true interdisciplinary patient care model, within a holistic healing environment. Working in the emergency department offers exposure to clinical trials and other cutting-edge procedures.

Work Hours/Shift:

3 12-hour shifts, 6:00am - 6:00pm

Job Summary:

Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Under general supervision, the Transport Nurse is responsible for the safe transport of critically ill patients, working jointly with appropriate staff (i.e. EMT, CCEMT-P, Flight RT) in patient care decisions.

Completes and documents patient assessments, treatments, medication, reactions as per department protocols and FH policy.

Adheres to all safety requirements while transporting patients, in and around vehicles/aircraft. Communicates patient updates to physicians with hand of care to receiving RN and appropriate triage of urgency. Adheres to the Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and to the rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.

Knowledge, Skills, Education and Experience Required:

Three years experience in an emergency department/critical care unit which may include CV-ICU/ICU/CL/CCU/Neuro ICU

Five years of patience care experience

ACLS, PALS

Critical care nursing knowledge

Basic computer skills

BSN (Preferred)

OB and Peds experience (Preferred)

7460 - Air core curriculum course (Preferred)

Transport nursing (Preferred)

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:

Current valid State of Florida license as a registered professional nurse.

Trauma Nurse Course Certified (TNCC) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Certified Emergency RN/Critical Care RN (CEN/CCRN) (Preferred)

Instructor status in one certification (ACLS, PALS, or TNCC) (Preferred)

Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN) Transport RN certification (Preferred)

Job Responsibilities:

Demonstrates, through behavior, Florida Hospital's core values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship, and Teamwork as outlined in the organization's Performance Excellence Program.

Completes and documents patient assessments, provides interventions with accurate administration and calculation of medications and the responses, as per department protocols' and FH policy.

Utilizes specific knowledge in emergency care of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

Adheres to safety requirements and applies caution remaining alert to hazards at all times, while transporting patients.

Utilizes proficiency in radio communications and emergency procedures.

Communicates patient updates to physicians and receiving units through dispatch for medical control.

Completes timely patient care documentation for patient hand off and safety.

Completes the department processes of shift briefings, debriefings and QA of charts for patient safety and improved outcomes.

Works closely with critical care transport team members and ensures timely, safe transport of patients.

Maintains proficiency in understanding and use of systems/equipments in the department to include but not limited to the Right Cad system and additionally for 7460, the EM system, Metro Site-OCF #, NICE recording system, Right Cad and GPS tracking.

Ensures team shift responsibilities are completed: includes equipment check, supply and medication inventory logs, maintains a "state of readiness" to be in compliance of state statues and maintains a clean work environment.

7460 -- Supervises Communication Specialist/Flight Dispatchers to ensure timely acceptance and accurate triage of transfer requests through the recorded lines.

7460 -- Assists in the Emergency Transfer Center, following templates for service line specifics and algorhythms of acceptance and denials of patient transfers/transports into and throughout the FH system. Initiates the hospital and physician chain of command when appropriate, or if there are EMTALA concerns.
