A Pheresis Group Leader for CSL Plasma is responsible for training and coaching pheresis staff and facilitating efficient donor flow through the center. Additional duties include performing venipuncture on qualified, applicant and transfer donors and having a general knowledge of the reception and registration operations.

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

In compliance with Standard Operating Procedures, (SOP's) and FDA guidelines perform all aspects of the pheresis procedure and plasma collection, including donor set-up, donor monitoring, donor disconnect and venipuncture. Evaluates vein performance of the donor by checking data with known norms to identify possible problems; makes necessary corrections in order to expedite donation time and ensure product quality. Maintains alertness to any reaction by donors and assist with reactions or notifies appropriate staff.

Educate new donors on the use of products made from donated plasma. Explain the process, the tests performed, the appointment system, fees, center policies, proper nutrition and any other information pertinent to the donor. Ensure that all donors' questions are answered timely, accurately and professionally. Facilitates movement of donors throughout the center minimizing donor wait time and processing. Allocates resources to address donor backlog.

Ensures all records to ensure the accurate and legible recording of patient data in charts, records and Donor Management System (DMS) as outlined in SOP's. Responsible for changing supply lot numbers in DMS when new lot number is introduced into production.

Prepares equipment for production by performing calibrations and verifying that maintenance has been performed as outlined in SOP's. May respond to and resolve complex equipment alarms or donor issues, troubleshoot equipment failures, create incident documentation and remove and/or replace equipment from service.

Supports center management by providing input into staff scheduling, and resolves minor donor relations and technical procedure issues. May interpret policies, but refers employee relations issues to center management staff. Provide guidance and technical training about processes and procedures to Donor Support Technicians, Phlebotomists and other staff as required.

Maintains clean and efficient work environment and ensure sufficient operating supplies are available as needed. Follows all Health Safety and Environment SOP's and OSHA policies and procedures. Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor and center information. Perform other job related center duties, as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum 18 months experience in a medical or health care environment preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. Specialized medical or phlebotomy training preferred.

Proficient in English language

Ability to perform venipuncture.
