In conjunction with the RCPA and the Physician Pharmacy and Therapeutics Chain Executive Director of Pharmacy for MAPMG, coordinates and manages pharmaceutical education for identified locations for clinic, hospital and contracted providers. In conjunction with the drug utilization pharmacists and Permanente Medical group drug use champions, coordinates on-going pharmaceutical education and training for pharmacy personnel.

Essential Functions:

* Provides performance feedback to providers and personnel regarding clinical outcomes, cost effectiveness, and member service in the delivery of pharmaceutical care.

* Assists in directing quality and utilization standards, and partners with administrators, providers and pharmacy managers to ensure quality and cost effective pharmaceutical care according to KP standards and applicable regulatory laws.

* Works collaboratively with the co-chairs of Regional Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee and the medical staff to coordinate pharmaceutical education providers and staff. Attends formulary review committee meetings and drug use management committee meetings.

* Assists in the development and implementation of identified pharmacy initiatives. Provides training, analytical support, and on-going performance feedback to providers and staff regarding those initiative outcomes.

* Analyzes prescribing practices for identified locations and/or the specific area to identify, develop, implement, and evaluate effective techniques to favorably influence such prescribing practices.

* Provides on-going communication to providers and staff regarding recent innovations in pharmaceutical practice, drug cost issues, clinical outcomes issues, etc., via presentations, newsletter information, formal utilization review and one-on-one conversations.

* Identifies and develops ongoing training education needs based on clinical pearls and formulary alternative acceptance levels, resulting in improved formulary utilization.

* Mentors staff pharmacists with responsibility for managing cost containment/conversion programs, to include annual evaluation of performance.

* Ensures implementation region-wide impact programs.

* Serves as a staff resource/trainer for the pharmacist clinical role expansion.

* Assists with quality activities in pharmacy management as they relate to on-going improvement of the delivery of pharmaceutical care to members.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

* Completion of one (1) year of residency in drug information or two (2) years of equivalent clinical practice experience required.

Education

* High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

License, Certification, Registration

* Licensed to practice pharmacy in assigned jurisdiction(s) required.

Additional Requirements:

* Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and oral and written communication skills required.

* Outstanding pharmaceutical and therapeutic knowledge required.

* Expertise in drug utilization review required.

* Demonstrated ability to converse and influence prescribing providers using pharmaceutical and therapeutic knowledge; to work collaboratively and lead professionals and others in single and/or multiple pharmaceutical care programs and sites required.

* Working knowledge of applicable state and federal pharmacy regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Completion of one (1) year of residency in drug information preferred.

* Pharmacy D degree preferred.
