QUALITY MANAGEMENT DATA SPECIALIST: Reporting to the Patient Safety the Quality leadership team, the Quality Management Data Specialist is responsible for development of reports and analysis of healthcare data with emphasis on assessing the clinical processes, the quality outcomes and the financial impact. The Quality Management Data Specialist (QMDS) is responsible for reviewing and communicating the frequent updates and changes in the quality indicators and/or definitions issued by CMS and other organizations. The QMDS will present and explain the quality indicator definitions issued by CMS and other organizations. The QMDS will collect, analyze and explain the data in various venues, and will assist in id entifying opportunities for improvement. The position may also support some quality improvement initiatives and peer review processes. This position requires an individual, who is detail oriented, understands the source data and methodology and can comprehend and interpret detailed specification manuals regarding quality indicator definitions. Excellent organizational skills, skills in data analysis and the ability to communicate clearly to various audiences are also required. Examples of reports and data elements include the following: Health grades, Value-based Purchasing, Hospital Acquired Conditions Penalty, CMS Dry Run reports, Premier, HCAHPS, Truven reports, Consumer reports, US News and World Reports Health Care Rankings, National Healthcare Safety Network (N.H.S.N.) and int ernal reporting and requests. Qualifications: Clinical background in healthcare with college degree i.e. Registered nurse licensed in the state of Illinois, Registered Health Information Technician, degree in related field 3-5 years~ experience in an acute care setting Knowledge of healthcare quality improvement tools and techniques Ability to use automated methodologies for the storage and retrieval of data (i.e. Word, Excel, and Power Point), instruments, machines, tools, equipment and work aides as necessary to perform job duties Ability to communicate effectively, in English, both v erbal and in writing, with all levels of the organization as well as medical staff and patients Exhibits skill in analytic fundamentals to include the application of statistical processes, data analysis, and reporting Ability to work independently as well as part of a team Ability to use critical thinking and decision making skills Ability to communicate concisely, both verbally and in writing Demonstrates experience in leadership, multi-disciplinary collaboration, interpersonal communication and change management Is able to adequately perform the Essential Functions of this Job; as well as being capable of meeting its Functional and Environmental Requirements.
