About this job

1. Arrive at work rested, in clean uniform and clothes, positive attitude, personally clean. Uniform includes: Black or dark gray pants, Big O Tires shop shirt, work shoes, safety glasses, pen, air gauge, and chalk (ear protection, as necessary).

2. Display tires in front of store with labels displayed.

3. Prepare bays for operation.

• Turn on compressor.
• Check that tire lube is filled is each tire machine.
• Check that air guns are oiled.
• Check that the following are placed at each machine: Flip sockets, valve cap tools, stem removers, hubcap

Hammers and plastic wheel guards.
• Check that stems have been stocked at each machine.
• Prepare balancer for operation – turn on and stock weights.
• Clean bay and garage door windows.
• Clean and inspect workbench and tire repair area for tools.
• Assure all trash cans are empty.
• Scrub and clean tire machines, balancers, and air hoses.

4. Unlock used tire rack and cage. Assure cleanliness and label uniformity.

5. Sweep, pickup, and clean parking lot.

6. Unload transport trucks and warehouse tires.

7. Clean the shop employee bathroom.

8. Miscellaneous projects:

• Paint facilities

• Police lot

• Lace junk tires

• Clean dunk tank

• Clean floor trap

9. Once car is in bay your duties:

• No food or drink or cigarettes are to be used in vehicle. Do not adjust any vehicle accessories. Do not remove anything from the vehicle.

• Assure vehicle air-ride systems are turned off before lifting. And turn them back on when done.

• Also assure emergency brake is off and vehicle is in neutral before applying safe and effective lifting practices.

10. Speed lane inspection and assure it is done correctly and in accordance with Big O Tires speed lane procedures.

11. Technician on the left side of vehicle should read out loud to his bay partner assuring clear and accurate directions.

12. Remove tire and wheel with proper lifting procedures while keeping safe control of the wheel.

13. Install stem, lube beads, install tire, loosen cone, air up tire making sure not to remove cone until tire is completely aired and both beads are seated.

• Never inflate the tire over the maximum air pressure recommended.

• Always check the beads on used tires before airing them up.

14. Take tire to balance assuring all weights have bee removed from both sides and then follow the proper way to balance a tire.

15. Clean whitewalls.

16. Install wheel and torque to proper specifications in correct torque sequence. Re-inspect all wheels for tightness.

17. Always display excellent customer service skills by introducing yourself to the customers by name and position, not allowing unauthorized personal in work bays. Clean windshield, install litter bag, be courteous, professional, and smile.

18. Clean area and announce before lowering vehicle. Remove jacks and drive vehicle to proper area.

19. Take work order and keys to behind front counter.

20. When closing, ensure used tire rack and cage is stocked and uniformly displayed and locked.

21. Fill tire lube in each machine.

22. Oil air guns.

23. Place the following at each machine: flip sockets, valve cap tools, stem removers, hubcap hammers, and plastic wheel guards.

24. Stock the stems at each machine.

25. Clean and squeegee bays insuring outside area is clean as well.

26. Roll up hoses.

27. Bring front displays into bays.

28. Shut off compressor.

29. Bring vehicles into bays.

30. Inspect disposed tires for adjustments and good used tires. Hauling all others to proper area.

31. Bring down bay doors and secure.

32. Perform all similar and related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Requirements

1. Minimum of six months in the automotive industry preferred.
2. Demonstrates good customer service skills.
3. Requires good oral, written, and communication skills.

1. Effectively merchandises used tire inventory to maximize tire sales volume.
