About this job

The RN is a professional caregiver who is responsible for designated patients for a specified time frame. The RN utilizes the nursing process, the environment and other health care resources to meet the specialized age-appropriate physical, emotional and spiritual needs of all ages of patient populations assigned. Provides quality nursing care to patients in the oncology department through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation of oncology care and assisting the therapist and physicians. Responsible for directing, coordinating all nursing care based on established clinical oncology nursing practices. Works under the general guidance of the Nursing Care policies and procedures of hospital. Collaborates with other professional disciplines throughout hospital to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery. Education:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Licenses / Certifications:

Current state Registered Nurse license

Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) Certification.

Current chemotherapy/biotherapy certification and OCN certification preferred.

Infusion experience in Oncology preferred.

Experience / Abilities:

Minimum of three(3) years experience as a registered nurse

Excellent IV skills.

Minimum of 2 years experience with cancer patients preferred (Medical oncology therapy)

Able to meet physical and sensory requirements of job.

Able to successfully complete orientation of job performance.

Able to meet health standards for hospital employment.

Must be highly motivated and committed to a quality of care that emphasizes the patient first.
