The House Supervisor will work under the supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer following the American Nurses Association (ANA) standards of practice and Code of Ethics. Responsible for coordinating and overseeing placement and care of patients of a variety of ages and both genders as appropriate to the provision of care in collaboration with and in the absence of Hospital Administration and Department Directors . Develops and evaluates personnel and maintains all operational aspects of the assigned areas: StaffingOffice, Sitters, PRN Pool in collaboration with physicians and nursing. Provides professional guidance to personnel and insures adherence to established policies, proceduresand accepted standards of care. Promotes cooperation and positive working relationship at all levels departmentally and interdepartmentally.

Education/Training:

Current Florida nursing license (RN) required.

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.

Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Business or Health Related field preferred, or actively pursuing Bachelor's in Nursing, Business, or Health Related field, to be completed within three years.

National Specialty certification preferred .

BCLS / ACLS required .

Skills/Experience:

Five (5) years clinical RN experience required with Associates Degree.

Three (3) years clinical RN experience required with Bachelor's Degree.

Essential Functions:

Coordinates patient care and patient placement in collaboration with directors, physicians,and administrators.

Acts as aresource person for routine hospital policies and procedures, legal issues, patient rights and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.

Serves as a clinical resource agent to nursing units and ancillary departments for problem solving.

Coordinates staffing of hospital in conjunction with department directors.

Works with other divisions and outside agencies to provide equipment or supplies not available in-house and facilitates procurement of medical supplies and/or equipment

Assists nursing personnel and family members in all circumstances that surround the death of a patient; facilitate all arrangements for autopsies; determine appropriate referrals to Medical Examiner.

Gives recommendations to the department directors and participates in recruitment, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.

Maintains open communication and is responsible for assessment of all requests for the AOC.

Monitors the assigned area's position control with Human Resources support and hires and maintains competent staff to meet patient care requirements

Relays staffing needs information to CNO or their designee.

Responsible for the monthly schedules for their assigned areas

Adheres to staffing policy guidelines

Sets example for staff with proper use of sick time, planning time off in advance, and taking corrective action to prevent recurring absence.
