Responsibilities: Interacts with patients and/or referring physicians to schedule appropriate appointments or provide other information/services as needed. Independently recognizes, interprets, and evaluates medical conditions and their level of urgency. Maintains regular contact with medical specialty areas (physicians, secretaries, and administrators) as needed as part of the patient care team to ensure quality-scheduling services. Will work on site with the expectation of moving to teleworking within approximately one year of hire based upon the needs of the department.

Qualifications: Associate's degree required or two years of medical appointment scheduling experience in a healthcare facility or six months of internal Mayo Clinic experience in the hiring work unit. Successful completion of a medical terminology course or at least 2 years of medical terminology use required. 3-5 years telephone and customer service experience required, such as a call center, administrative, physician's office, as an appointment scheduler, etc. Candidates must be able to type 40 wpm.

Additional Qualifications: Knowledge of Mayo's scheduling system preferred. Knowledge of Cerner scheduling programs desirable. Successful agents demonstrate ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment, team player, and demonstrated problem solving skills. Must be willing to modify individual work schedules/responsibilities in response to department/clinical needs.

Hours/Pay Period: 80

Schedule Details: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m and additional hours based on department needs.

Weekend Schedule: As needed on based on departmental needs
