JOB SUMMARY:
The primary function of the On-site Service Technician is to assist the client in maintaining client owned safety equipment. The On-site Service Technician will been trained to calibrate equipment, Bench Test Air Systems, Inspect Fall protection, and Fire Extinguishers; verifying equipment offered is in proper working condition. It may also to track inventory, place restocking orders, and handle out of service orders in a timely manner.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(May include some or all of these tasks)
* Inspect and maintain safety equipment supplied to the project
* Develop and maintain a good a working relationship with the client
* Must have monitor technology knowledge
* Perform gas monitor calibration
* Maintain breathing air system
* Perform drug screening functions
* Day to day repair, cleaning and maintenance of Customer owned Equipment
* Maintain clean and neat office and work areas
* Calibrate and repairing monitors in-house and onsite at different locations for client
* Inspect and bench testing air packs-SCBA
* Inspect and bench testing Egress Systems
* Inspect and cleaning task specific garments
* Inspect and cleaning Fresh Air masks
* Replenish Safety machines at Customer location (and offsite client locations)
* Perform monthly inspection on Fire Extinguishers
* Perform airline quarterly inspections
* Possess the ability to adapt to an ever changing environment
* Inventory tracking
* Generate reports as requested by the client
* Maintain database records
* Other duties as assigned
* Complete daily, weekly, monthly inspection reports
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and/or Experience:
* High school diploma or equivalent (Associates Degree Preferred)
* Minimum of 2 years in the petrochemical industry
* Successful completion of training and certification courses; provided by Airgas On-Site Safety
* Working understanding of Fall Protection, SCBA, Egress, Instrumentation, and Fire Equipment
* Background verification and drug testing required.
* Have a current RSO (Refinery Safety Overview) card
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Employee development programs can include the following basics:
* Basic operation and maintenance of breathing air compressors
* Confined Space training
* Fire Watch training
* Gas monitor calibration
* CPR & First Aid Training
* DOT HM 126/181 Training
* Respirator field level maintenance training
* Fall Protection Inspection Certification
* Fire Extinguisher Inspection Certification
* Level III SCBA Certification
Required Skills & Abilities
* Understand and respond to written and oral instructions
* Communicate effectively orally and in writing
* Be able to operate a two-way radio and cell phone
* Contribute to a positive work environment
* Follow directions from supervisor
* Maintain professional behavior in the workplace
* Possess a sense of urgency
* Must be proficient in MS office Word/Excel/PowerPoint and MS Outlook
* Must be able to perform well as a team player on a diverse team
* Perform Independently with minimal supervision
* Valid driver's license and good driving record
* Ability to work on a team
* Demonstrate good customer service skills
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
* Willing to be on 24 hour call
* Willing to work 12 hour shifts for extended periods of time
* Must be able to respond to emergency situations at a moment's notice
