Coordinates the registration process by obtaining accurate medical, insurance, and demographic information from patients at each visit and ensuring the new patient information sheet is filled out on all patients
Maintains solid knowledge of all insurance plans by utilizing insurance manuals and appropriate correspondence
Answers phones in a timely manner, schedules appointments, takes and distributes complete and accurate phone messages, return patient phone calls, answers miscellaneous questions and screens physician phone calls
Communicates with patients regarding physician's schedule and if physicians are running behind
Performs patient appointment reminder calls and collects pertinent information prior to the appointment
Checkout patients, collect payments/co-pays, issue receipts, and schedule any follow up appointments
Schedules testing and referrals to other physicians and facilities, process referrals and pre-certifications, as needed, in a timely manner
Balance payments for daily office visits per office procedure
Prepare new patient charts and type patient labels, pull patient charts for appointments (Pediatric Site)
File/scan/docutrak all patients, prepare and maintain patient's medical record
Control inventory and order office supplies per supervisor's approval
Maintains neatness of reception area throughout the day and ensures that workspace is tidy
Participates in regular staff meetings and/or educational activities and programs, as directed
Perform other tasks as assigned by the Site Leader, physician, and Practice Manager
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience working in a medical office setting, preferred
- Experience with working with computers and Micrsoft office required
