RN - House Supervisor - PRN - Req #1383

This is a Department of Nursing Services position which provides delivery of patient care with the skills of an experienced Registered Nurse. Position responsibilities include ensuring continuity of patient care, serving as a resource for hospital staff, facilitating problem solving, assisting with Performance / Quality Improvement Activities and assuring compliance with established policies and procedures. Distinguishes self as a role model for all hospital employees. Completes supervisory activities in the absence of department directors and hospital administrator, inclusive of assisting with staffing, scheduling, monitoring staffing hours, calculating HPPD/staffing ratios. Strives daily to give all customers very good care and promotes Valley View Medical Centers' Standards of Behavior and other duties as assigned

Degree / Licensure / Certification / Registration : Valid R.N licensure for Arizona required. Must have current BCLS, ACLS and PALS.

Experience Required : One year management experience and demonstration of strong leadership skills. Must have knowledge of the nursing process, as well as JCAHO and Arizona regulatory agency requirements.

Special Skills & Qualifications :

Must possess the ability to delegate tasks to subordinate team members and oversee their performance. Must have the skills to provide orientation and training for the nursing staff. Must have the skills to function as a resource for the nursing staff. Must have strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Effective human relations skills are required for interfacing with team members, all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families and other contacts. Must possess the ability to effectively function in a stressful environment. Must possess the ability to remain on feet for extended periods of time and lift heavy objects; assist patients to and from bed/wheelchair/gurney; and to perform the essential duties of the position. Must possess the ability to use the following equipment: Telephone / Overhead Paging System / Fax Machine / Calculator / Computer / Wheelchair / Gurney / Hospital Beds. Must be able to work any scheduled shifts. Must be willing to work periodic overtime and be prepared to take call as required. Complete Competency Based Skills Checklists for all unit(s) assigned.
