Candidate must be enrolled as a full-time student at:

o an accredited four year university, and currently working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Civil Construction or Industrial Engineering

or

* an accredited college or university, and currently working towards a Master's Degree in Mechanical, Civil Construction or Industrial Engineering

* Must have a GPA of 2.5 or above and completed their sophomore year.

* Due to the nature of work, candidate must be a US Citizen

Preferred Requirements

* Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, internet searches, and familiarity with computer sketching programs

* Interest and capability to support field work activities

* Although all qualified candidates will be considered, preference will be given to those who are enrolled in the engineering programs at:

These two items will be scheduled before the intern starts work at Savannah River Site.

Additional Information

The internship will run for a 12 week period from May 16, 2016 until August 5, 2016. Housing is not provided but reasonable rentals are available through the University of South Carolina-Aiken student housing office.

A 40 hour work week is set and scheduled by the individual departments. SRS utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), etc. Each work day has a 30-minute lunch. Interns will be paid a competitive hourly rate; no summer interns will be assigned to shift work; overtime is not available; Interns will be paid for site holidays (Memorial Day, July 4) as applicable.

Assignments will be located in SRR facilities on the 300sq mile DOE site outside of Aiken SC. Public transportation is not available and interns will be required to arrange their own transportation. A valid Driver's License, Registration and proof of automobile insurance is required for driving on the Savannah River Site.

You will be assigned to SRS General Employee Training and Drug and Alcohol test appointments before badging and commencement of assignment.

Job Description: Savannah River Remediation, an LLC of AECOM, is seeking an Project Design & Construction Services 2016 Student Summer Intern (LSE) to be based at our DOE site outside of Aiken, SC.

Responsibilities

Provide support to Savannah River Remediation (SRR) as a Student Summer Intern Limited Service Employee (LSE) on the Savannah River Site (SRS), a US Department of Energy (DOE) facility in western South Carolina.

The intern will perform meaningful work in support of the organization. Guidance will be provided using SRR processes and procedures. Interns will prepare and present a final project to the SRR management team summarizing conclusions about the experience, impacts delivered and relevance for their future career.

This position is Construction Field Engineering support which includes work planning walk-downs, assistance with material take-offs, work planning, hazard analysis and inspection activities. As needed the intern will support construction turnover activities including walk-downs, development of punch lists and turnover packages. Additionally the intern will support Field Work Efficiency RIE and will participate in Lean Events where applicable.
