About this job

Under direct supervision, the Cook/Baker shall be responsible for the preparation of food and cooking for patients, employees and guests from menus prepared by the Dietitian and Food Service Supervisor using standardized recipes and following established portion control.

Must be willing to flex schedule to work other shifts as needed and to work other than usual areas as needed. Must be able to cook, bake, do catering, able to work all other kitchen aide jobs.

* Observes professional ethics in maintaining confidential information concerning the financial, personal, medical or employment status of patients/families at LRH.

* Must follow and enforce accepted safety practices for patients and hospital.

* Must report safety hazards and initiate appropriate action.

* Must participate in safety instructional programs.

* Handles and prepares food in accordance with sanitary regulations and standards.

* Observes all rules of personal hygiene, sanitation, and safety when preparing and serving food.

* Responsible for preparation of food that is palatable, high quality, and appetizing in appearance, using standardized recipes.

* Responsible for meeting meal schedules of patient services, cafeteria and/or special function.

* Serves hot foods on patient tray line.

* Performs routine temperature checks to ensure proper serving temperatures are adhered to.

* Guidance and responsible for all food production items, salads, therapeutic foods, desserts and garnishes.

* Assists in care and maintenance of work areas, equipment and supplies.

* Reports supply/ low stock levels and equipment failures to supervisor.

Performs other duties as assigned
