Mechanical Engineer - Full-time / Part-time

Must Haves:
5+ years of hands on mechanical engineering experience
Experience with Automation and Machine Design
Adaptable and comfortable doing things outside of their job description

Seeking a Mechanical Engineer with extensive product development experience make contributions to new and existing products. As a hands-on contributor, they will work with other mechanical, electrical and software engineers as a member of a cross functional product development team designing, developing and delivering work class products and systems for the Life Sciences industry.

Responsibilities:
Design new complex product assemblies, including optical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical components
Monitor technological developments and evaluate their suitability for use in company products
Execute product design and documentation tasks such as conceptual and detailed design, 3D modeling, detail drawing creation, electronic packaging design, cable harness manufacturing documentation, bill of materials structuring and creation, assembly drawings, engineering release packages
Analyze and test designs for conformance to product specifications
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Successful candidate must possess strong mechanical/machine design skills and have extensive product development, design for manufacturability, and design to cost experience
Qualified candidates shall have a track record of solid technical leadership with preference given for experience designing products for manufacture
Working knowledge of electromechanical control systems, automation and robotics
Proficient in creating and understanding engineering models and drawings using SolidWorks, Creo a plus
Proficient with computers and basic business and engineering software; knowledge/practice with specialized software for calculation, selection and simulation. Experience with issue tracking software
Perform engineering calculations used in design and drafting of mechanical components and structures such as static, dynamic, and deformation analysis of structures, and airflow and cooling analysis for electronic enclosures
Experience designing plastic injection molded parts a plus
Familiarity with UL and CE a plus

Education and experience:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
5 years minimum experience as a practicing mechanical engineer in an engineering department with formal engineering records and documentation control
Experience creating requirements specifications, design specifications and test plans
5-10 years' experience with automated machinery design and development
Design for Manufacturability experience
Design for Cost experience
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; outlook, word & excel used daily
Excellent written and verbal communication skills using the English language
Experience in an ISO-9000 environment a plus

Test the JD:
Cost and DFM is not a huge factor, more of a plus
Bachelor Degree is not a must, but it is preferred
