Distribution Designer

*Distribution Designer*

• Under the direction of a Senior Designer and perform detailed design of overhead and /or underground electric distribution systems. This work includes the preparation of field notes, drawings, specifications, and estimates for review and approval by a Senior Designer.
• Design and prepare independently, construction orders related to overhead, underground facilities associated with electric distribution systems applying the prescribed standards, guides, specification, and procedures.
  Contact landowners and/or their agents, to negotiate agreement of Rights of Way (easements) for proposed utility equipment. Obtain necessary contact and tax map information for easement processing.
• Apply standards, guidelines, specifications, practices and procedures or appropriate industry standards in preparing layouts of overhead and/or underground electric distribution facilities.
• Prepare design sketches, cost estimates, bill of materials and any other required documents and reports for construction and maintenance projects.
• Assist in the performance of load studies on distribution transformers, investigate circuit overloads and voltage complaints to determine necessary corrective action.
  Prepare and submit required reports and correspondence.
  Utilize client and Company information systems to track and update design activities.
• Shall have a working knowledge of the practices and procedures pertaining to technical matters in the following area:
  a) Electric Distribution Design
  Shall have a working knowledge of the practices and procedures pertaining to technical matters in one or more of the following areas:
  a) Electrical Engineering
  b) GIS
  c) CADD
  
  Shall perform with a minimum of supervision, a variety of design related duties including, but not limited to, the following:
  a) Prepare manual or computer assisted design and construction drawings of a complex nature.
  b) Perform design services requiring a full understanding of drawings, specifications, industry and client standards covering the assigned work.
  c) Preparation of cost estimates, specifications, evaluations, and requisitions.
  d) Perform distribution system design calculations.
  e) Coordinate design deliverables to meet project schedules.
  f) Acquire field data necessary to prepare the appropriate design
