All three positions require answering questions and resolving customer issues via phone, making skills such as oral and written communication, computer and keyboard proficiency, and problem-solving critical for success in the respective position.

Details on the essential functions and qualifications of each position are detailed below:

A Customer Service Representative is responsible for resolving customer issues via telephone for all financial adjustments, including, but not limited to, transferring sales, payments and returns; as well as answering Loyalty calls when needed. A Customer Service Representative assigned to macys.com responds to inbound customer telephone calls regarding the order status of their Internet purchases, places new orders, and up sells for macys.com, Bloomingdales.com, and The Wedding Channel; they will also assist customers with inquiries for Bridal and small ticket purchases.

Customer Service Representative Essential Functions:
  • Answer and resolve issues regarding billing inquiries such as payments, returns, internet purchase status, and sales.
  • Complete various Credit Customer Service functions based on business needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality.


Customer Service Representative Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. One to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Communication Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations; ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands:

Regularly required to sit, talk, hear, use hands to finger, handle, and feel; occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and walk; requires close vision.

Other Skills:

Strong analytical skills, excellent decision making and follow-up skills; excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to complete financial transactions acutely and proficiently.

The Furniture and Bedding Customer Service Representative is responsible for providing excellent customer service on inbound and outbound phone calls for all Furniture and Bedding Customer Service frontline functions.

Furniture and Bedding Customer Service Representative Essential Functions:
  • Answer questions and resolve issues for customers over the phone including furniture inquiries, deliveries, returns, and exchanges.
  • Complete essential Furniture and Bedding customer service functions.
  • Cross train on department functions.
  • Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality.


Furniture and Bedding Customer Service Representative Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. One to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Communication Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent; draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; solve problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands:

Regularly required to sit; frequently required to talk and hear; occasionally required to walk, use hands to finger, handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, and lift and/or move up to 10 lbs.; requires close vision.

Other Skills:

The Credit Granting Representative is responsible for approving, declining, and maintaining sales and non-sales of currently active accounts and new accounts; accepting or rejecting checks for service or goods; and opening new accounts for customers.

Credit Granting Representative Essential Functions:
  • Answer phone calls from sales associates and customers, including referral, check, lookup, guideline increase, adding an account type, pre-approval and maintenance calls; take appropriate action according to the type of call; maintain professional conversation with sales associates and customers and provide good customer service.
  • Complete account maintenance, address changes, lost/stolen reports, and returned mail updates.
  • Obtain and analyze credit bureau information; verify employment and income; ensure compliance to adverse action; open new account types; work the mail/phone queues; assist in special projects.
  • Input customer data; interpret, analyze and investigate customer information returned from the credit bureau using established CG criteria; maintain professional conversation with sales associates and customers and provide good customer service.
  • Decision accounts via the judgmental queues or reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality.


Credit Granting Representative Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. One to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Communication Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and work with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands:

Regularly required to sit, talk, hear, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; occasionally required to stand and walk; requires close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
