About this job
Stonington Institute began serving recovering alcoholics in 1957 as Starlight Farms, a working farm where adults in recovery were introduced to the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous. Today, we are the longest continually operating, free-standing, voluntary treatment facility in New England. Our main campus is located in North Stonington, CT, in its original private and peaceful rural setting. We have additional clinical sites in Groton, CT. Transportation and off-campus housing assistance make our programs and services accessible to a statewide clientele. Those programs include: medical detoxification, rehabilitation/residential treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient treatment (both day and evening), ambulatory detoxification and residential substance abuse treatment for military servicemembers and their dependents. The Institute accepts private insurance, state-funded plans and self pay arrangements.
The Detox RN utilizes psychiatric clinical skills as a first line direct client care provider and is an integral member of the multidisciplinary treatment team, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing treatment plans as well as overall client management and staff supervision within the unit. This is a fast-paced work environment and the ability to manage multiple priorities while ensuring quality client care is essential.
12-hour shifts (7:45 - 8:15). Full-time and per diem positions available. We are a 24/7 facility so weekends and/or evenings may be required.
Connecticut-licensed RN. Minimum of one year experience in the Mental Health or Substance Abuse field desired, ideally with co-occurring populations. Ability to work independently yet collaborate with the medical and clinical teams is a must. Some experience supervising or delegating tasks to support staff preferred. Strong documentation skills and attention to detail are essential.
