About this job

* Under the direction of the Dock Manager, the Lead Parcel Sorter trains Parcel Assistants and Parcel Sorters through the assignment of workflow and effectively reports information to dock management in order to provide outstanding service to the customers. The incumbent is expected to set an example for other employees through professional conduct and by safely performing all assigned tasks to predetermined standards. In this flexible position, the tasks may include sorting, loading, palletizing, scanning, quality assurance, and operation of powered industrial equipment. The incumbent is expected to report any violations of company policy and procedures to management. Essential Functions * Train Parcel Assistants and Parcel Sorters to safely and accurately perform tasks to predetermined standards

* Based on engineering plans and company standards, assign Parcel Assistants and Parcel Sorters to work areas in order to maximize customer service

* Provide ongoing assessments of Parcel Assistants and Parcel Sorters and then provide on-the-job training to meet training needs

* Notify hub management of equipment malfunctions and other potential safety issues

* Maintain a clean and safe work area. Promote safety programs and recommend corrective actions

* Provide continual feedback to Parcel Assistants and Parcel Sorters regarding both positive and negative performance

* Monitor equipment/asset control by checking scanner equipment in and out daily

* Unload, load, lift, push, and stack packages

* Wrap, label, and move skids

* Process packages and create mailing containers

* Sort packages to correct location according to label, load chart or scanner

* Perform other duties as assigned Minimum Education * High school diploma or GED required Minimum Experience * One (1) year of warehouse supervisory experience preferred Required Skills, Abilities and / or Licensure * Basic computer and math skills

* Basic understanding of the SmartPost Sortation Platform (SSP), P2, and Microsoft Windows Applications is required

* Ability to organize, motivate, and lead employees

* Ability to proficiently communicate verbally and in writing using the English language

* Ability to regularly lift, carry, push and pull packages up to 70 pounds in weight

* Ability to lift up to 25 pounds consecutively

* Ability to read labels and charts

* Ability to verify and distinguish numbers

* Ability to memorize and carry out instructions

* Ability to work rapidly for long periods of time

* Ability to scan labels using a handheld device

* Ability to apply plastic wrap around palletized packages from floor level up to 77 inches

* Ability to apply new learning

* Ability to operate powered industrial equipment

* Ability to present information to a small group (less than 20 people)
