Position Summary :

Multipurpose position, to serve the needs of TexomaCare. Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviews patients, measures vital signs, draws/collects blood samples, records information on patients' charts, and prepares treatment rooms for examination.Performs registration functions on all patients, performs insurance verification, collects co-payments, deductible amounts and outstanding account balances and processes referral/routing orders. Enters patient changes, processes CPT and ICD-9 codes, performs end-of-day balancing.

High school or equivalent.

MA II - One year of clinical experience (hospital or physician office) with the ability to draw blood or six months experience as a Medical Assistant I in TexomaCare with successful completion of Medical Assistant II competencies. PC II - Two years in a business environment with at least one year in a physician office, medical-insurance office or healthcare environment.

Medical assistant certification preferred. Must complete and pass Advanced MD training.

Excellent interpersonal relationship skills, a strong work ethic and the ability to recognize the needs of all age groups. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills (English) in which to communicate effectively. Must be able to listen, comprehend, and process a variety of detailed information and requires the ability to use discretion and judgment within defined parameters. Requires the ability to work in a fast paced environment completing multiple tasks. Must be familiar with medical terminology and demonstrate knowledge of their-party payers (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance), and ICD-9 coding.
