Job Summary This job opening is for a Temporary Float RN position within the Central Staffing Resource Department (CSR). The specific Cluster is the Adult Telemetry Units.

This RN would be part of our Central Staffing Resource Department in the Adult Telemetry Cluster:

4B Adult Surgical Unit

4C Cardio-Thoracic Unit

CVC 5 Adult Intermediate Cardiovascular Unit

7A General Medicine/Telemetry

7B General Medicine/Telemetry

7C Cardiology

Medical Observation Unit

Responsibilities* To perform physical, psychosocial and needs assessment of Cardiac, Thoracic, Vascular surgery patients and Medical Cardiology patients.

Determine functional status and initiate appropriate action.

Report significant changes in patient condition.

Provide nursing care to patients including the administration of medications and treatments ordered and assist with diagnostic procedures.

Assess and monitor patient status, including response to medications and therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

Identify problems presented by patients and families and initiate appropriate intervention.

Operate and monitor patient care equipment.

Document patient care, including changes in patient status.

Identify needs and educate patients and families about their disease process and the application of the therapeutic plan.

Formulate individual care plans and evaluate nursing care.

Required Qualifications* Must have a current Michigan Registered Nurse License. Must have two (2) or more years experience (within the past three (3) years) in the telemetry/stepdown arena as a Registered Nurse. Must be able to obtain Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS) within six (6) months of hire.

Desired Qualifications* BSN Preferred Cardiology/telemetry/ICU/ICU stepdown experience Demonstrates expertise in communication and problem solving skills within all levels of the health care team, as evidenced by interviews, documentation, writing skills, and references. Experience floating to multiple units Preceptor experience CCRN or PCCN certification Ability to work in a team atmosphere utilizing effective delegation skills. Takes initiative in seeking professional growth. Computer skills: proficient in Microsoft Office Current ACLS Certification

Work Schedule **Commitment is 24 hours per 4 week scheduling block**

ALL SHIFTS AVAILABLE; 4, 8 AND 12 HR BLOCKS AVAILABLE!

Location: University Hospital: Central Staffing Resources, Adult Telemetry Cluster (FLOAT)

Wage: $40.00/hr base rate

Evening Shift Differential is $4.00 per hour

Night Shift Differential is $ 3.00 per hour

Weekend Differential is $3.00 per hour

Additional Information TEMPORARY FLOAT NURSE GUIDELINES

1). All CSR employees are required to attend an annual educational Blitz to complete required

UM mandatories and compentencies (BCLS every 2 yrs, Cardiac Arrest and maintain all

other applicable certifications).

2). Temporary Float Nurses are expected to work all shifts requested unless no work is

available. It is the intention that all Temps will float to all units within the cluster speciality.

3). A Temporary Nurse should work 24 hours per 4 week schedule block. You may request four

(4), eight (8), or twelve (12) hours shifts in advance.

4.) Temporary Nurses in the CSR Clusters are NOT required to work weekends or holidays.

5). Temporary Nurses will participate in a newly designed, streamlined, onboarding/orientation

program. However, the progression of orientation will be dependent upon clinical

competency, staffing needs of the individual units, and the number of hours worked by the

Temporary RN.
