3M is seeking an Occupational Health Nurse for the Drug Delivery Systems Division Plant located in Northridge, CA. Ready to be part of what's next?

Job Summary :

The person hired for the position of Occupational Health Nurse will promote the health and well-being of 3M employees through onsite planning, implementation, and evaluation of occupational health programs. Leads health management programs and medical issue resolution for the facility. Leads disability case management and accommodation programs.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

- Leads case and care management for Workers Compensation and Short Term Disability (STD), working with Third Party Administrator (TPA)/vendor to determine disability management plan. Leads cross-functional disability management and return to work planning with location management team, advising on Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) medical requirements

- Plans and implements required or recommended medical surveillance programs according to protocols with employee follow-up

- Provides health education and wellness materials and information, both one-on-one and to groups. Understands local prevalent illnesses and participates with company Occupational Medicine Physician on design of health promotion programs to impact employee well-being

- Delivers health promotion programs to plant population, including appropriate immunizations and preventive screenings. Supports the Safety function by delivering appropriate Right-to-Know training. Collaborates with Employee Assistance Professional for referrals and to identify mental health/substance abuse education needs, and refers appropriately to local healthcare providers and company Occupational Medicine Physician

- Provides direct care of illness/injury and contributes to clinical protocol development and revision. Supports First Responders in medical emergencies and trains them on first aid protocols

- Prepares Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) log and First Report of Injury, or communicates information regarding illness/injury incident to the record keeper, and maintains medical files with preservation of confidentiality. Assists in preparing data for management summaries

Basic Qualifications:

- Technical diploma or higher level of education from an accredited institution

- Minimum of three (3) years combined experience in Occupational Health, Public Health and/or Clinical Nursing

- Minimum of one (1) year of experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems

- Current, unrestricted California Registered Nurse (RN) license

Preferred Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or higher from an accredited university

- Minimum of five (5) years Occupational Health nursing experience

- Current clinical skills (e.g. examination, diagnosis/treatment of minor injuries/illnesses, contagious disease, etc.)

- Certification(s)/willingness to obtain such as:

-American Board of Occupational Health (COHN, COHN-S and/or Case Management)

-Council for Accreditation Occupational Hearing Conservation (OHC, PS and/or PS)

-Current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification (that includes AED)

- Knowledge and experience with disability management, basic ergonomics, ADA, HIPAA, FMLA, OSHA, Workers' Compensation and CFRA, accommodation solutions and/or medical surveillance regulatory requirements are needed.

- Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills

- Microsoft Office and EMR proficient

- Coordination, influencing, and short-term planning and strategic planning skills in regard to programs and priorities

Location: Northridge, CA

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic
