Serving the greater Stanislaus County with 423 plus acute care beds, Memorial Medical Center provides a full continuum of care including 24-hour emergency care, inpatient and outpatient surgery, obstetrics, pediatrics, nuclear medicine, dialysis therapy, diagnostic imaging, intensive care, physical therapy, and home health. Specialized care includes Memorial Regional Cancer Center and Memorial Heart Institute.

The Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) I will assist the Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) when assigned as Memorial Medical Center (MMC) inpatient phlebotomists by performing venipuncture and micro-collection techniques for all age groups including newborns, infants, toddlers, pediatric patients, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients including responding to all traumas, code blues, medical alerts and various hospital emergencies such as disasters, etc. and when assigned as mobile phlebotomist then by traveling to contracted facilities by performing venipuncture and micro collection technique on patients offsite from the main laboratory at Memorial Medical Center. Functions include appropriately identifying, labeling and processing all samples. The certified phlebotomist is also responsible for completion of registration and test ordering functions for contracted clients' patients in the electronic health record (EHR) and Laboratory Information System (LIS).The phlebotomist will comply with all requirements as defined by the laws and regulations relating to Clinical Laboratories from the State of California Business and Professional Code and the California Code of Regulation. Punctual and predictable attendance is a requirement of this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

California Phlebotomy Technician I Certificate or eligibility (Required prior to the start date).

Must carry current valid Certified Phlebotomy Technician I identification card issued by California Department of Public Health.

Must have initiative to work efficiently without supervision and direction.

Ability to read, write, hear and verbally communicate in English to the degree required to perform the job.

Must be able to travel in and out of Stanislaus County in accordance with any requirements of the job. If MMC and/or own vehicle used on employer business, must possess valid California Driver's License and upon request proof of liability insurance.

Must provide DMV printout for last three (3) years driving history.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

AA degree with some science classes.

Prior experience in a hospital setting.

Six months or more recent computer experience.

American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification
