About this job

Installs and maintains electrical systems including, piping, wiring, breakers, boxes, panels, starters, transfer switches, isolation transformers, motors, appliances, etc. Installs and maintains infrastructure for communication systems including telephones, computer systems, public address, radio communications, and nurse call systems. Other tasks as assigned by supervisor(s) which are necessary for the function of the hospital which the employee is deemed competent to perform to include routine maintenance and minor construction to any property owned, rented or leased by the hospital.

Ensuring the electrical and communication systems owned by the hospital or on property leased by the hospital is fully functional to meet occupant's needs and meets all requirements of governmental and licensing agencies. Performing routine and preventative maintenance as well as repairs to this equipment. Installation of such equipment as assigned. Completing any work order or task assigned in a professional manner in a reasonable time frame. Must have a flexible attitude toward work and be trainable to work in all areas of the department including HVAC, plumbing, routine maintenance, equipment repair, administrative, clerical, education, etc. Must be able to work any shift, any day including weekends and holidays. Must be able to be on standby call as assigned. Must have a TEAM mentality. Education:

Must have knowledge of the installation, repair and maintenance of commercial electrical systems. Must be able to read and understand schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints. Must be able to read and understand equipment operating and service manuals. Must be able to read and understand written work orders and written preventative maintenance procedures. Must be able to use tools associated with the electrical and communication trade, must be able to use mechanics hand tools and power tools (electric and pneumatic). Must be able to troubleshoot and repair electrical, communication systems. Must have knowledge of HVAC, including air handlers, exhaust fans, pumps, motors, etc. Must be able to differentiate colors on electrical wiring systems and numbering schemes on those systems. Must have visual acuity to be able to work independently on those systems. Must have personal computer skills. Must be able to use both a gas and electric welders.

Experience:

Must have at least two years of working experience with such equipment or systems. Electrical and/or plumbing experience preferred. Must be dependable, dedicated, and loyal. Must be able to set personal work goals in alignment with the department goals and the hospital strategic plan.

Licenses/Certificates:

EPA certification required when servicing refrigeration equipment.
