Basic Function (Objectives):

Cashiers (full-time and part-time) are responsible for the efficient operation of their shift within company policy.

 

Principal Activities

General:

  • Observes shift operating hours at all times, as assigned by the Restaurant Manager.
  • Performs specific tasks as assigned by the Restaurant Manager.
  • Assists the Restaurant Manager in seeing that the restaurant maintains a restaurant inspection grade of at least 87.
  • Provides all customers with prompt, courteous service.
  • Follows the work schedule as posted, unless a change in schedule is arranged with the Restaurant Manager.
  • Ensures the Restaurant Manager is made aware of all sales, cash and operating discrepancies.
  • Operates shift with company guidelines to achieve sales and profit.
  • Follows proper clocking in and out procedures through the restaurant computer.

 

Shift Responsibilities:

  • Prepares a shift change report at the completion of shift in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Notifies Restaurant Manager of any discrepancies in the operating results on the shift report.
  • Assures the proper sale and accounting for money orders during shift, as described in company policy.
  • Rings all sales properly according to company policy.

 

Security:

  • Follows company policy with regard to excessive cash in registers, change box and safe as directed by Restaurant Manager.
  • Protects company assets at all times.

 

Requirements of the job:

  • Read, speak, understand and write the English language at an eighth grade level.
  • Perform mathematical calculations at the eighth grade level in order to make change or complete shift reports.
  • Have sufficient visual acuity to check identification and process money orders.
  • Read and understand instructions for operating electronic cash registers and other equipment.
  • Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. to carry and stock cooler and restaurant shelves.
  • Be able to climb a ladder to clean windows.
  • Be able to sweep and mop floors, dust shelves and lift and carry out trash containers and place in outside bin.
  • Be able to clean the parking lot and grounds surrounding the restaurant as directed by the Restaurant Manager.
  • Be able to work in a cooler at a temperature of 35 degrees for up to 20 minutes at a time.
