Quality Assurance Supervisor

The Quality Assurance Supervisor is accountable for providing leadership and development to the quality and sanitation process at Columbus, Ohio plant in order to assure product conformance to specification, food safety, GMP & Good Laboratory Practices. This position provides leadership in compliance with the Quality & Sanitation policies and procedures.

Position Responsibilities
  1. Leads and manages the Quality department team on all shifts, assuring an effective and strong audit function. Directs and manages all quality functions in accordance with the Quality Assurance department procedures, as well as the GMP’s.
  2. Provides coaching and support for the QA labs and production areas to include training in food safety (GMP, HACCP, Allergens, and Certificates of Analysis).
  3. Provides needed support of all internal and external audits.
  4. Monitors quality daily and provides process improvements.
  5. Responsible for relevant documentation for Quality processes and procedures.
  6. Responsible for relevant tracking of KPI’s associated with Quality.
  7. Develops effective working relationships with all internal and external customers as well as effective supplier relationships.
  8. Effectively manage, train, develop, and evaluate Laboratory Technicians and Batchers to maintain or improve skill competency. Monitor and ensure the performance of Quality Staff to ensure operational and regulatory compliance.
  9. Responsible for data analysis to include statistical analysis of laboratory and quality system data which include but not limited to market score reports, consumer complaints, nonconforming products, yield data, audit results, etc. Determine data trends and implement improvement to processes and/or procedures to improve KPI’s associated with Quality.
  10. Provide direct supervision to ensure sound calibration and validation programs for all Quality Lab instrumentation.
  11. Along with the Quality Manager, liaise with internal and external auditors during Quality, Food Safety and Regulatory audits.
  12. Responsible for full implementation of all Quality initiatives to reduce wastes associated with sample process flow, batching procedures, sanitation procedures, etc.
  13. Perform administrative functions such as scheduling Quality staff to ensure 100% support to operation, perform SAP transactions, ordering of materials
  14. Assist with special projects or assignments specifically directed by Quality Manager which may include new product launches, traceability and recall, consumer complaint investigation, 5S, etc.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) with 5 years’ experience in food or pharmaceutical manufacturing in a production plant or lab environment OR Associate's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Food Science, or science-related field with 3 years’ experience in food or pharmaceutical manufacturing in a production plant or lab environment
  • 3 years supervisory experience in a fast paced food manufacturing environment or laboratory
  • Prior knowledge of HACCP, GMP, GSFI, RCA, SPC, and Process Capability Studies
  • 2 years of experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to routinely lift a minimum of 20 lbs repetitively
