Review and analyze medical records to assure internal consistency and completeness
Assures availability of the medical records at all times
This position is responsible for supervising the activities of the Health Information Management department; the management and maintenance of all patient medical records and information, ensuring compliance with all state and federal laws, rules/regulation of licensing agencies and within Joint Commission standards at the regional and facility site
Responsible to oversee the day to day operations of the department to ensure proper staffing and distribution of assignments and/or sites to maximize productivity and cost effectiveness within a high quality medical delivery system
Must be able to assist and carry through both operational and strategic departments goals in alignment with institutional goals
Executes processes and plans in line with dashboard targets
Consistently and effectively implements and monitors policies, workflows, and training
Demonstrates appropriate judgment regarding daily operating issues
Supports, participates and manages the implementation of new system initiatives
Monitors, communicates and implements action plans as needed based on results of customer satisfaction
Responds to patient, clinician and family requests; investigates/documents complaints
Coordinates resolution of staff issues including major discipline with the Director, Manager and the Human Resources Department
Monitors time sheets and overtime management. Reviews for accuracy and approves department timecards
Supports, participates and manages PIMS audits and certification of scanned images
Other duties as assigned

Requirements


Required Qualifications:

1+ year of supervisory/lead experience
3+ years of recent consecutive years' work experience in the Health Information Management(HIM) field
Extensive Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records systems with experience in medical records filing, prepping, scanning, quality analysis or similar position
Working knowledge in all areas of Medical Records regulations
Experience with MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Working knowledge of standards and legal requirements of acute care, SNF, Rehab, psychiatric and substance abuse patient records
Experience with the electronic health record, health information systems and healthcare applications
Working knowledge of functional relationships between departments within a healthcare or similar environment
Experience overseeing a day-to-day cost center, accounting unit and/or site operations
Preferred Qualifications:

RHIT /RHIA
One year Cerner experience
HIM or scanning experience
Knowledge of hospital protocols and procedures
Knowledge of TJC, HIPAA, HCFA, Title 22, security principles, guidelines, and standard healthcare practices
Knowledge of specific state and federal requirements and standards related to the management of health information
Knowledge of medical terminology, classification systems, and vocabularies
Highly developed interpersonal, customer service and communication (written and verbal) skills
