And you'll do your life's best work.(sm) The health care markets are evolving in many different ways and the role and impact of consumers is becoming increasingly important providers look for new ways to grow and manage risk.  In particular, the ability to manage new and innovative strategies is critical to the success of these organizations.  Optum is seeking a senior consulting leader to grow its consulting business in the provider market.   This position is responsible for the identification and sale of large scale consulting opportunities and development of provider- focused consulting solutions in the multiple areas of provider consulting including Health Management, Risk & Quality, Cost & Quality Analytics, Financial & Risk Management, etc. This role requires executive level relationships with leading provider leaders and leading cross Optum solutions for big and major deals. Primary responsibilities will include developing new clients and new client engagements with hospitals, health systems, and post-acute care providers.  Individual will primarily be responsible for managing and growing relationships with CXO-level clients, and overseeing and delivering consulting engagements under budget to CXO-level clients. Areas or expertise should include:

Sale and delivery of Consulting Services to healthcare clients in the Provider market
CXO level market strategy and growth
Provider consulting practice growth
Point of view development for CEOs, CFOs, CIOs and strategy leaders
Margin management and diversification strategies
Value Based Care and ACO development and payment methodologies
Provider mergers and acquisitions
Investment strategies and financial decision making
Population Health/Care coordination models
Health system revenue cycle models
Provider technology landscape including EMRs, HIEs, Data, and Analytics
 
Primary Responsibilities:As a VP within our organization you will have the opportunity to perform the following types of activities: Sales/Growth Leadership (40% Time Allocation):

Leverage your personal network to identify new client opportunities in the Provider market
Achieve practice level sales consistent with organization targets
Develop proposals and statements of work for client specific engagements
Lead the development and closure of big and major client engagements involving cross Optum solutions
Lead the RFI, RFP and sales process
Complete financial analysis for proposed solutions
Builds provider solutions Marketing and Sales Collateral
Attends and participates in oral presentation
Direct responsibility for the oversight, hands on participation and delivery of large scale projects/programs.  Large scale programs are defined as high cost, high complexity and/or high risk
Establish trusted partner relationships to expand the Optum Consulting footprint at designated clients
Facilitate development of business segment and enterprise level planning and program objective setting
Obtains high client satisfaction scores (>90%)
Develop and maintain clients references
Provider Market Planning and Thought Leadership (20% Time Allocation):

Industry thought leader around clinical, quality, and network management strategy and analytics in the provider market
Define provider market needs and gaps to current capabilities (matrix with Marketing and Sales teams) 
Define Points of View for best practices and develop key performance indicators to show value
Work with Business Units (Optum One, Optum 360, etc.) to understand product integration opportunities/risks and align long-term marketing and delivery plan
Identify and develop consulting offerings, products, services solutions that align with key market needs and or client initiatives
Determine pricing models and options for new solutions 
Program Oversight & Service Delivery (40% Time Allocation):

Ensure utilization rate and billable revenues are attained annually
Participate in senior level program funding and prioritization decision processes
Provide strategic input to the development of program roadmap and timelines 
Create a team oriented work climate that enables professional development and encourages creative solutions and strategies
Support the management of resources within programs
Support program communication plan and execution
Require that quality assurance methods are implemented within the program
Provide status updates and review of programs to senior leadership
Provide coaching and mentoring of project team with the goal of developing and retaining talent within the organization
Work with client to lay out strategic roadmap for consulting solutions
Provide financial and data analysis to support ROI for project funding

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

5+ years of experience working in a Professional Consulting Organization, performing large deal sales and consulting services to large key external clients (individual deal size $1M+ with total sales of $5M+ annual)
20+ years of extensive provider market experience 
2+ years of experience selling large scale consulting opportunities and development of provider- focused consulting solutions in the multiple areas of provider consulting  within Network Management, Strategy Value Based Care and ACO development/payment methodologies
2+ years of experience in sales and delivery of Consulting Services to healthcare clients in the Provider market with the ability to lead the RFI, RFP and sales process
Existing network of C-level relationship with Provider market clients
Ability to think strategically, proven experience laying out strategy, developing products and/or services from ground up that would be sold in the commercial market
Proven problem solving skills (identification of issue, causes, solution, implementation plan)
Project management - strong project tracking, presentation and reporting skills
Strong ability to influence and motivate
Experience writing and executing business plans for new consulting solutions
Ability to travel up to 80%  
 
Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in computer or business related field
Experience in clinical and/or network management activities in Medicaid
