Description:

The Supervisor for Corporate Tax Operations will be responsible for supervising the Tax Analysts and Senior Tax Analysts daily work, schedules and performance in order to meet the deadlines as set forth in Managements established Federal tax compliance work plans. The Team Member will be responsible for the detailed review of all work prepared by the Interns, Tax Analysts, and Senior Tax Analysts to ensure compliance with all Federal, State guidelines, and internal policies and procedures.

What will I be doing?

The Supervisor for Corporate Tax Operations will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of new processes and will provide training to new and existing staff as legal requirements and internal processes change. The Team Member will be responsible for implementing Management deadlines and overseeing the staff preparation of Federal returns (400+ tax returns) through weekly work assignments, detail reviewing of all returns prepared, returning reviewed returns to staff with corrective instructions, and monitoring quality and quantity of work completed.

 

Other key priorities are listed below\:

  • Handle first or second review of tax returns and tax return components

  • Responsible for preparing components and/or reviewing staff work for components of the Domestic Federal consolidated returns as set forth in the Management work plan

  • Assist, as directed by Management, in the consolidation in the tax software of certain components, and generally assist in the reconciliation of items to the financial statements and/or supporting tax documents

  • Keep informed of all changes to statutory filings and obligations, including form changes, through research and daily and weekly update reviews, and Management instruction

  • Must understand and ensure inclusion and proper treatment of company transactions in the appropriate tax returns through review of Management installed checklists, permanent file processes, and tracking of new items

  • Responsible for maintaining Management processes regarding maintaining information to meet audit and FIN 48 requirements, as well as information required by Section 404 of Sarbanes Oxley Act and the SEC

  • Assist with Management deadlines and overseeing the staff preparation of Domestic Federal tax provisions through weekly work assignments, detail reviewing of all provisions prepared, returning reviewed provisions to staff with corrective instructions, and monitoring quality and quantity of work completed

  • Resolve issues raised by the staff in the domestic compliance process, seeking assistance of Management as needed, but will be required to perform independent tax research and document findings in preparation of obtaining such assistance

  • Responsible for supervising, reviewing, and preparing Income Tax projects as required to meet the processes above, and additionally as directed by the Manager, Director, or Vice President

  • BA/BS Bachelors Degree

  • A minimum of three (3) years of corporate or public accounting experience in the area of corporate income tax

  • A minimum of two (2) years of professional experience

  • A minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience

  • A minimum of two (2) years of tax return review experience in the areas of U.S. corporate income tax and multistate U.S. income and franchise tax return, as well as tax research and documentation

  • Experience with Corptax tax software systems

  • In depth understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, specifically those relating to tax reporting (FAS 109, FIN48, FAS 5, FAS 123R)

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions\:

  • MA/MS Masters Degree

  • A minimum of five (5) years of corporate or public accounting experience in the area of corporate income tax

  • A minimum of four (4) years of professional experience

  • A minimum of four (4) years of managerial experience

  • A minimum of three (3) years of tax return review experience in the areas of U.S. corporate income tax

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
