The staff nurse / per diem is a registered professional nurse who administers skilled nursing care to patients requiring professional nursing service and teaches and supervises the family and other members of the nursing team. Each staff nurse performs nursing services for residents within the licensed areas serviced by the company or those counties deemed contingent by the Department of Health. These services are performed in accordance with the physician’s orders and under the direction and supervision of the RNM or DON.
 
Primary Responsibilities:

Infuse medications in patients’ homes including monitoring and tracking vital signs, performing IV placement, phlebotomy and medication administration via peripheral infusion device or PICC line, implantable port and / or central venous catheters as ordered by a licensed physician or licensed practitioner
Assess patient in home environments, including clinical assessment, safety of environment and pain assessment
Monitor effectiveness of medication treatment, develop plan of care and provide education for patients and family members
Observe signs, symptoms, reactions to treatments, physical and emotional condition and report to the physician
Teach, supervise and counsel patients and caregivers regarding nursing care needs and related problem
Chart services rendered to patients, changes noted in the patients’ condition and / or family and home situation and make revisions in nursing care plan as needed; evaluate patient care and progress
Consult with nursing coordinator for possible alterations of plan of treatment
Participate in case conferences
Maintain ongoing knowledge of current drug therapy
Other responsibilities as needed

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

Active, unrestricted RN license in Arizona
3+ years of clinical nursing experience
Experience in infusion therapy
Strong IV starting skills
CPR certified or able to obtain certification within 30 days of employment
Availability for evening & weekend work
Reliable vehicle, current and unrestricted driver's license and proof of auto insurance
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in home infusion
Experience as RN in oncology, med/surg, ICU, ER
Knowledge of the Infusion Nursing standards (INS) and nursing process including assessment, problem identification or nursing diagnosis, outcome identification, planning and communicating, implementation and evaluation
Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office and electronic medical records (EMR) programs
