Job Overview:

A Production Support Technical Lead is a hands-on technical lead, providing leadership to a multi-site team accountable for 24/7 support of our website and design & development of several mission critical applications. The successful candidate will closely work with Developers, Business, Marketing, Operations, Quality Engineering, Business Analysts, and other engineering teams in a highly collaborative environment. The Lead will help come up with and build dashboards and monitoring mechanisms with proactive and predictive capabilities. He will also help transition onsite subject matter expertise to our 24/7 offshore teams, as well as troubleshoot production emergencies where needed. The role is also responsible for defining and executing processes to improve website availability, support and maintenance as well as ensure all releases meet macys.com, bloomingdales.com, mobile, and Digital In Store operational readiness requirements including documentation, management tools, monitoring & reporting, performance, stability and security. The Lead will also be focusing on strengthening all security levels across all channels.

Essential Functions:

Be the Subject Matter Expert within the team and provide technical mentoring to your peers and developers
Refine existing monitoring that focuses on issue detection before customer experiences it; be able to identify patterns and anomalies that may affect stability, performance, or incorrect data
Develop measurement criteria and tools to monitor and drive continuous serviceability and process improvements
Work closely with operational support teams at macys.com and Macy's Systems & Technology to provide guidance on application support, respond to operational issues and develop tools to improve operational support capabilities
Communicate regularly with management on team and project status, escalate issues as needed
Off-hour availability for production emergencies to oversee production fixes as needed

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

BA/BS required.
8 + years hands on experience of J2EE development
6 + years of experience with JSP, Servlets and SQL experience is required
Quick and effective troubleshooter with cohesive findings presentation skills
3+ years of experience with IBM Web Sphere, Spring MVC is a strong plus
2+ years of experience with Monitoring tools like DynaTrace and Splunk. Key Note is a strong plus
2+ years of experience with Eclipse, Ant, Maven, SVN is desired
Application Profiling Skills (Java Core, Thread Dumps etc) is a great plus
2+ years with security products such as IDS/IPS or WAF is a strong plus

Communication Skills:

Ability to effectively communicate technical issues and recommend solutions to all levels of business, sometimes during high stress situations
Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills

Reasoning Ability:

Strong analytical and problem solving skills a must
Ability to multi-task required
