The Government Collector position is responsible for accurate and timely preparation
and submission of claims to Government Intermediaries, Secondary Payers, and patients. The
Government Collector is familiar with the UBO4 billing format, has knowledge of current regulatory
requirements, and able to perform electronic and hard copy billing. The


Essential Job Functions:

Ensures billing backlog is reviewed and assigned accounts are being billed timely.

Ensures collections efforts on all accounts must be able to collect up to a 100,000 a month

Ensures transmissions are done timely.

Reviews remittance advice for denials to ensure appeals are done timely.
Reviews provides management with a daily check history for Medicare Claims Summary log.

? Communicates with Supervisor when CMS/Palmetto ADR /RAC Correspondence are received to ensure documentation requests are submitted timely.

? Works with Supervisor to identify, track and trend rejections and returned mail to maximize billing.



Requirements:



? 3 + years of acute care hospital Medicare collections experience.

? Knowledge of healthcare payor systems and benefits: HMO, PPO, Worker?s Comp, Medicare guidelines and Medi-cal

? Experience collecting and billing of governmental programs. Imperative that candidate has full knowledge of governmental collection regulations and guidelines.

? Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations, as well as HIPAA transaction

? Proficient computer skills to include the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel as well as the ability to learn new applications

? Meditech system experience preferred.

? Excellent customer service skills required

? Knowledge of Medical Terminology is required

? Fire and safety card must be presented upon hire or obtained at our facility within first 90 days of hire

? Excellent oral and written communication skills, must be able to function in a team environment

? Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments and prioritize assignments

? Strong organizational and attention to details skills

? Must be customer focused and a team player
