Position Title:                     Prep Cook

Department:                      Food & Beverage

Accountable to:                Executive Chef

Primary Objective of Position:

To contribute to guest satisfaction by assisting in the preparation of meals by chopping vegetables,

preparing salads, and putting together entrees.   Although this role generally does not include line cook duties, it provides the ideal opportunity to develop and use many of the skills essential to becoming a cook.  Such skills include proficiently being able to utilize a wide range of kitchen tools including proper knife handling.

 

Major Areas of Accountability

  1. Meets and exceeds guest and team member expectations by providing positive and courteous service and teamwork.
  • Provides value added service to guests by doing whatever reasonable and possible to meet or exceed guest expectations.
  • Communicates effectively with guests, supervisors and co-workers.
  • Demonstrates teamwork by cooperating and assisting co-workers as needed.
  • Handles difficult situations effectively.
  • Performs other duties as required to provide positive and courteous service and teamwork.

 

  1. Food preparation, chopping vegetables, making salads and putting together entrees.
  2. Ensuring that food is properly stored.
  3. Performing kitchen maintenance; emptying the trash, mopping floors and washing dishes.
  4. Learns and adheres to the designated cooking methods to assist in preparing the appropriate menu items consistently.

 

  1. Strives to learn to improve cooking skills and expands knowledge about food products and techniques.

 

  1. Assists with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen, walk-in coolers and all storage areas.

 

  1. Performs additional responsibilities as requested by the Chef or Kitchen Supervisor at any time.
  2. Adheres to Port Royal policies and procedures.
  • Attends work on time as scheduled.
  • Follows Port Royal’s grooming and dress standards.
  • Minimizes safety hazards by following all safety rules and procedures.
  1. Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance.

 

  1. Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures to achieve the overall objectives of this position.

 

  1. At all times projects a favorable image of Port Royal Homeowner Association to the public.

 

Experience:

  • Some kitchen experience helpful, but not required

Skills/Aptitudes:

  • Professional communication skills are required.
  • Ability to take direction.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.

License/Qualifications:

  • Food Handlers permit required at all times.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends and some holidays.
