West Town Bakery & Diner is growing and looking for friendly and caring bussers who enjoy being around people and working in a fast-paced environment! West Town Bakery is a fun, fast-paced environment with a wonderful fresh pastry selection, Dark Matter espresso bar, and a cool, neighborhood atmosphere.  It’s a fun place to work and a great place to start a career too.

A busser will be in charge of working with the assigned server in his or her section on the dining room floor. Serving signature beverages and delicious diner fare and ensuring that water and coffee are refilled and the tables are cleaned and restocked, while creating a lively environment for their guests.

Essential Functions:

-Helps server prepares room for service by setting tables, condiments, utensil rollups, etc.

-Helps servers serve orders by running guests' choices from barista/bar and kitchen, delivering sides and condiments, etc.

-Responds to additional guest requests by inquiring of needs, observing dining process.

-Maintains table settings by removing plates/dishes as completed, replenishing utensils

-Refilling waters and coffees as well as other drinks, being alert to guest spills or other special needs.

-Taking out the trash and general cleaning duties around the restaurant

-Contributes to overall team effort by accomplishing related results and working together.  

Other Functions:

  • Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.
  • Complying with health and food safety standards, restocking items, cleaning,
  • Operating the dish machine, sweeping and moping, answering the phone, providing great customer service, and following Fifty/50 Restaurant Group policies & procedures

Physical Functions:

  • Ability to stand/walk a minimum of 8 hours or as needed.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced and frequent mobility for periods of up to 8 hours or as needed.
  • Be able to lift up to 20 pounds frequently.
  • Will frequently reach, feel, bend, stoop, carry, finely manipulate and key in data.
  • Work in both warm and cool environments
  • High levels of noise from music, customer and employee traffic.
  • Must be able to tolerate potential allergens:  peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood and shellfish.

Qualifications, Education and Behavior

  • At least 16 years old.
  • Ability to work quickly while maintaining safety standards and procedures.
  • Active social media presence
  • Ability to work early morning hours.
  • Ability to work consistent schedule at least 2 days per week.
  • Must have an an Illinois Food Service Handler's certificate or be able to obtain one within 30 days
