We currently have an opening for a Business Support Technology Manager.
Â
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide leadership, technical guidance, training and mentoring to software development teams and IT support personnel
Monitor, evaluate, manage and report on team and individual performance
Hire, develop, train and complete performance appraisals.
Oversee technical aspects of running and managing a business involving three major technology platforms: Application Development; System Management; Network Management
Demonstrate knowledge of systems analysis with emphasis on user relationships, information gathering techniques and scheduling
Contribute to design, development and maintenance of MSLA’s business software applications
Provide design and implementation document and work estimates
Assign software development and support tasks to developers in the team
Guide developers on the best development methodologies and approaches
Manage developer tasks to ensure quality of work and timely completion
Identify potential problems or issues during code reviews and recommend resolution or improvements
Lead or participate in design and implementation meetings, progress and status meetings
Act as a Scrum Master to coach, inspire, and lead agile development teams, and help identify and clear technical impediments within development sprints.
Participate in planning, prioritization and management of IT technical backlog items, sprint backlog, software releases, defect management and application support.Â
Participate in requirements and software design meetings with internal and external customers, business analysts and software development teams
Interact with user groups, Business Analysts, QA Testers, and Developers to ensure that technical and functional requirements and performance goals are met
Apply and maintain MSLA’s programming standards, methodologies, and techniques through implementation meetings and code reviews
Establish proper support processes and standard operating procedures to ensure timely resolution of technology issues. (Incident, problem, outage notifications etc.).
Ensure creation of systems support knowledge base to provide rapid knowledge transfer to support personnel for use in trouble shooting
Ensure timely resolution through desk-side support as needed by hardware and software issues
Ensure event technology is provided as needed to all MSLA contracted events
This technology must be properly tested, configured and shipped to ensure event success
Evaluate, research, recommend and implement new software methodologies, architectural and functional software improvements
Evaluate desktop and event system technology based on the needs of MSLA employees and users of event systems
Establish and maintain desktop and event technology asset tracking, destruction and procurement processes
Provision laptop, desktop and print technologies from purchase, to install, through upgrade to retirement and destruction (full life cycle management)
Ensure helpdesk services are provided to all MSLA employees, contractors and contracted professionals
Ensure 24x7x365 support via on-call staffing, notification and escalation

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (preferred areas of focus are: Computer Science, MIS, Information Technology or Computer Engineering) or equivalent combination of education, experience and/or applicable military experience
6+ years of leadership experience
6+ years of experience in helpdesk/support management technology
Proficiency in MS Office Products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint
3+ years of technology procurement and asset management
Knowledge of Visual Studio and VB.NET, SQL Server and relational database modeling concepts, .NET Framework, ADO.NET, ASP.NET, Object Oriented programming concepts, Windows and Web forms
Knowledge of Team Foundation Server or similar source control programs.
Ability to coach, inspire, and lead agile development teams
Proven team building & management skills
Proven organizational skills, project and time management as well as follow through and attention to detail
Ability to provide technical mentoring and guidance for software developers in a team
Ability to create, assign, track, review and assist with programming tasks for developers
Proven analytical and troubleshooting skills
Ability to meet scheduled task requirements within assigned deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
4+ years of full life-cycle software development experience
6+ years of experience with .NET technologies, developing .NET Windows, Web and Web Services
Proficiency with Visual Studio
Experience with Agile methodology, Team Foundation, Active Director, Spam Filters, Infectious Detection, Mobile Device Management, Firewalls, Intrusion Detection and Prevention, Switching and Routers are very helpful
