The Director, Industry Relations Business is a client-facing position that requires a clinical background to support clients in the growing Formulary Management Services (FMS) business segment, including identification and quantification of opportunities to maximize pharmaceutical rebate revenues and presentation of these opportunities via financial therapeutic class models using client-specific actual claims data.
Primary Responsibilities:
Identify opportunities to maximize pharmaceutical rebates for Core and Custom formulary clients in the Formulary Management Services (FMS) business segment
Prepare quarterly lists of therapeutic classes for financial modeling and create the market baskets to permit importation of client claims data into client-specific therapeutic class models
Create and manipulate therapeutic class models to quantify the financial effects on rebate revenues using alternate drug formulary status scenarios
Verify drug formulary status in both the calendar quarter of the claims data in the financial model as well as the current quarter for the financial projections
Convert therapeutic class models to format for client presentation
Present and explain therapeutic class financial models in client-facing meetings including quarterly Rebate Round Table (RRT) presentations
Assist Strategic Account Executives in the FMS business segment in client-specific analysis of summary utilization and rebate revenue performance quarter-over-quarter and trend for quarterly RRT presentations
Create client-specific Excel tables of the top 20 WAC price changes in the preceding 12-month period
Advise FMS clients about drug price changes in the marketplace and provide client-specific examples of the financial effect of OptumRx price protection for specific drugs as part of the quarterly RRT presentations
Inform FMS clients about rebate contract changes and new rebate revenue opportunities as part of quarterly RRT presentations
Support Sales in earning new clients in the FMS business segment
Participate in new FMS client implementation meetings
Provide ongoing support and participate in periodic FMS client meetings
Respond to ad hoc questions from FMS clients regarding rebate revenue implications associated with formulary status changes for specific drugs within therapeutic classes
Qualify and quantify client-specific rebate billing discrepancies discovered in the process of therapeutic class modeling and resolve in collaboration with Rebate Management
Assist Rebate Management analysts in resolving formulary status and rebate-eligibility questions for OptumRx Core and Custom formulary clients
Negotiate with pharmaceutical manufacturers to obtain rebate rates, terms, and conditions consistent with the business strategy developed by the IRB team

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in negotiating and writing pharmaceutical rebate agreements
5+ years of health plan experience
3+ years of experience in financial analyses including the use of financial modeling tools and spreadsheets and interpretation of financial model results
3+ years of supervisory or teaching experience
3+ years of experience in presenting complex subjects in a succinct and clear manner to internal and/or external customers
Proficient in the use of MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint applications
Demonstrated writing ability and strength in verbal communication including active listening
Actively pursues continuous quality/process improvement in self and work tasks
Demonstrated ability to innovate and solve problems and tasks with initiative and ingenuity
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience as a health plan pharmacy director or member of a health plan Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) committee
3+ years of clinical experience (e.g., pharmacist, nurse, physician)
Writes clearly and concisely and demonstrates ability to simplify description of complex subjects
Shows compassion and respect for coworkers and clients
Demonstrated ability to lead by example with Integrity
Graduate-level training/experience in health services or outcomes research
