Required Qualification:

  1. PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT
    1. Shall have and maintain a valid, unrestricted, current state medical license in one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
    2. Have and maintain current certification in basic cardiac life support (BCLS) through an American Heart Association approved training program.
    3. Have a minimum of one year of experience within the last three years routinely practicing as a PA. One year of experience for an Orthopedic PA will be in the form of ambulatory or hospital based orthopedic service.
    4. Must possess a minimum of a Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited university within respective profession.
    5. Possess current Board Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Applicable diploma and proof of membership in the NCCPA is required.
  2. NURSE PRACTITIONER
    1. Have a minimum of one year of experience (within the past four years) of routinely practicing as a nurse practitioner.
    2. Have current certification in basic cardiac life support (BCLS) for health care workers obtained through an American Heart Association approved training program.
    3. Certification as an FNP in an active status granted by a national advanced practice nursing specialty organization such as ANCC.
    4. Be a graduate of an NLN approved school of nursing and hold current registration as a registered nurse in the United States. If the state of registration has a separate Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) licensure, the FNP will also have APN licensure.
    5. Evidence of successful completion of an ANP program of education.
    6. A BSN is required, but an MSN is preferred.

      NOTE: Position requires access to Department of Defense computer systems, therefore the Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner must be a US Citizen..

Job Responsibilities. The PA/NP areas of responsibility shall include but not necessarily be limited to the following.

  • Adequately diagnose and treat acute diseases and injuries to include but not limited to: Skin; Head; Eyes; Ears; Nose; Throat; Neck; Pulmonary System; Gastrointestinal System; Musculoskeletal System; Genitourinary System; Reproductive System; Lymphatic System; Central Nervous System; Cardiovascular System and Endocrine System.
  • Become familiar with the hospital formulary and prescribe pharmaceuticals according to the drugs listed.
  • Generate and maintain proper medical records on beneficiaries to whom treatment is provided IAW AR 40-6, Medical Records.All records generated in the performance of duties remain the property of the government.
  • Follow the established operating procedures of the MTF were services are being provided. Providers shall participate in the quality control activities of the MTF.
