Position Overview

The Quality Assurance Director is responsible for ensuring that Sunrise policies and practices are aligned with State regulations for their assigned communities; providing leadership, development, execution, business management and strategy with a focus on the overarching strategic priorities:

RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance to Directors of Operations, Regional Directors of Resident Care, Executive Directors, Health Care Coordinators and Department Heads on hiring requirements; assist in the interview process as appropriate to help build high-performing teams
  • Provide operational guidance to Directors of Operations, Regional Directors of Resident Care, Executive Directors, Health Care Coordinators and Department Heads on critical areas such as Individual Service Plans (ISPs), emergency preparedness, and incident and abuse reporting
  • Lead with authority, conviction and ethical fortitude
  • Proactively confront and manage difficult issues. Make bold decisions with a sense of urgency
  • Follow up on customer problems and resolve issues in an appropriate and timely manner. (Customers include: residents, family members, team members, vendors, outside referral sources, etc.)
  • Proactively build relationships with team members in the service area
  • Focus on clinical outcomes
  • Possess knowledge and working understanding of day to day field community operations
  • Know and live the Sunrise Mission, Principles of Service and Core Values; demonstrate serving leadership and act as a role model
  • Oversee basic quality assurance and Performance Improvement; p repare/lead communities for annual surveys and oversee plans of correction
  • Work with regional and local clinicians on improving quality of clinical care
  • Develop compliance/quality monitoring tools for State regulations and all related agreements
  • Develop and implement training programs, introduce regulations into Sunrise training and ensure Sunrise policies are aligned with State regulations
  • Demonstrate understanding and apply knowledge of all Sunrise products and services including their individual features and the benefits they bring to residents and family members
  • Possess knowledge of current and evolving state laws and regulations
  • Demonstrate understanding of the overall senior care market and Sunrise’s unique niche in that market
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews/site visits with communities
  • Conduct focused quality assessments for each community with revisits on outliers
  • Understand and utilize the business intelligence reports / tools to manage and enhance their business operation
  • Apply Sunrise budgeting and capital expenditure policies and procedures
  • Understand and demonstrate passion for Sunrise business model and value proposition as a management services company with fiscal accountabilities to multiple owners and stockholders
  • Understand & leverage multiple revenue drivers (beyond occupancy levels) that drive the top line (e.g. clinical practice, pricing, inventory management, care levels)
  • Understand competitive opportunities & threats
  • Understand the internal cost associated with all Sunrise programs and levels of service
  • Process and submit expenses and budget data timely per Sunrise policies and internal business controls
  • Maintain a working knowledge of State regulations, ensure compliance through supervising & coaching team members
  • Actively develop high potential team members’ competence and confidence so that they may assume greater responsibility or scope while limiting risk to the organization
  • Teach the use of quality tools, root cause analysis in a PDSA framework as a priority
  • Prioritize opportunities for clinical improvement
  • Partner in the delivery and participation in Sunrise University Training and self study programs during the required timeframe
  • Ensure community team members are in compliance with Sunrise University trainings, orientation program, Getting Started trainings
  • Conduct & contribute to timely performance appraisals with meaningful conversations
  • Hold teams accountable and assist in documenting corrective actions when necessary
  • Keep abreast of professional developments in the field by reading, attending conferences and training sessions


Experience/Skills
  • RN or other clinical licensure as well as management experience is preferred
  • Administrator’s License/certification is a plus
  • Five (5) years clinical, management/operational leadership experience (or related experience plus clinical licensure ) in healthcare industry preferred
  • Supervisory and management experience including hiring staff, coaching, performance management daily operations supervision, discipline and counseling
  • Clinical/business analytical skills with the ability to link information to action and results
  • Able to travel
  • Ability to handle multiple and competing priorities
  • Ability to delegate assignments to the appropriate individuals based on their skills, roles and interests
  • Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication and the ability to facilitate group presentations
  • Competent in organizational, time management skills
  • Demonstrate good judgment, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Proficiency in computer skills, Microsoft Office (Windows, Outlook, Excel) & Sunrise applications with the ability to learn new applications
  • As applicable, Sunrise team members who drive a Sunrise vehicle must review and sign the Driver job description, understand the key essential duties for safety & regulatory compliance
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings, flexible hours, available for our customers at peak service delivery days and times
