POSITION OBJECTIVE

Salamander Resort & Spa is seeking a dynamic Marketing Manager focusing on Social Media and Special Events Programming. The successful candidate must have exceptional analytical, organizational and computer skills, show consistent attention to detail, and have experience with coordinating and promoting special events that drive revenue as well as content development and distribution on social media platforms. The goal of the position is to work with other departments to help promote the resort’s brand and services while overseeing complex projects that meet the strategic objectives outlined in the event strategy.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Among many duties, the ideal candidate must:

Strategize and formulate the development of an annual event calendar to capitalize on seasonal offerings and happenings

Develop and execute the conceptual, and thematic framework for each special event and program

Communicate all programs and activities to guests through effective marketing and promotion

Coordinate event logistics, timelines and schedules, working with the resort’s operations team

Promote each special event through partnership collaboration, social media and community calendars

Align event strategy to business and marketing initiatives as well as opportunities to build brand loyalty through guest engagement

Develop objectives and strategies for the overall effectiveness and execution of marketing events

Establish budgets and benchmarks in order to provide post-event recaps which include, but not limited to, payroll, supply costs and ROI

Establish relationships and negotiate with promotional partners

Oversee cross-functional, event related special projects

Align social media engagement with media relations

Managing all social media channels to include but not limited to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram

Coordinate and execute social media campaigns

Manage pro-active posting of management response to sites such as Trip Advisor.

 

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel:

Professionally represent the hotel in community and industry organizations and events.

Participate as a team player with all departments.

Provide constructive feedback to all departments.

Be a leader and a role model to all employees.

 

REQUIREMENTS

A four-year college degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or similar major is preferred

2-4 years of experience in marketing and event management, preferably the hospitality industry

Must possess superior social media savvy and the proven ability to drive creative and memorable social media campaigns

Strong Computer Skills: Work, Power Point, Excel & Outlook

Exceptional written and verbal skills

Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills required

Experience with Adobe In Design, Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator preferred

Must be able to work in a fast paced environment, multitask and prioritize assignments while strategizing with each department of the resort to develop and promote special events that generate revenue

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature generally is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems.

Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 5 hours per day. Walking and standing are also required, depending on the project.  Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.

Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. occasionally.

Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.

Some local travel is required

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to work effectively in a stressful environment, communicate with others, effectively deal with customers and accept constructive criticism from supervisors

Must be able to change activity frequently and cope with interruptions
