Position Purpose:

Seeking an experienced IT Project Manager looking to build a career with the nation’s top home improvement retailer.The IT Project Manager (ITPM) plays a lead role in the successful delivery of projects. The purpose of this position is to provide effective project management and delivery of IT initiatives

The IT Project Manager (ITPM) is part of The Home Depot's (THD) ePMO team and plays a lead role in the successful delivery of projects. The purpose of this position is to provide effective project management and delivery of IT initiatives. This position requires a clear understanding of (need to make reference to methodologies that will be needed, i.e. waterfall, Agile, XP, etc.) and may require overseeing resources such as Project Analysts. The ITPM needs to be proficient and experienced in using project management tools, creating project plans, managing financials, controlling change, assessing risks and issues, creating mitigation plans and effectively communicating to upper management. In addition, the ITPM will need to work with cross-functional end-user groups, business partners, vendors, development groups, architects, and service managers to ensure successful project implementations. Generally, a PM is responsible for a single high complexity initiative or multiple low to medium complexity projects.


Preferred Qualifications: 

5-10 years of related experience.
Bachelor degree, MS a plus or equivalent (e.g., CPA, PE, etc.).
PMP certification
MS Project and office tools
Agile Experience



Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities:

Project Planning: Responsible for the implementation strategy, definition of project scope, adherence to THD’s compliance toll gate artifacts (Charter, Business Acceptance Document, etc.) and definition of project specific deliverables, creation of a logical work breakdown structure and definition of major project milestones. The ITPM ensures a viable work plan is created that results in the on time completion of project(s) and within budget.

Project Financials: Instrumental in the creation of a project Cost Benefit Analysis to determine viability and justification of project(s). Responsible for labor and hard capital project forecasting and updating THD’s financials system.

Project Control: Leads the development of effective plans for controlling project scope, schedule and cost baseline, and monitors the project execution to ensure that the plan is being followed. Responsible for providing documentation to explain changes to the baseline, driving the approval process, and ensures the approved changes are implemented.

Project Communications: Develops or approves an effective plan for communicating program information to the project stakeholders. Creates and approves written status reports highlighting any potential schedule, resource and cost issues. If necessary, creates store communication about project(s) deployment.

Project Risk and Issue Management: Leads the definition of project risks, and the required mitigation approaches. Monitors project activities for the occurrence of risks, and takes timely action to mitigate them. Advises project team members, stakeholders and senior management of actions required or completed. Resolves problems by analyzing and prioritizing issues, discerning the most appropriate courses of actions, providing tactical direction and, when necessary, reallocating resources.

Project closeout: Ensures lessons learned are documented and applied to subsequent projects. Responsible for ensuring that all invoices have been paid and that updates are made to THD’s internal system showing that the project is closed.

Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. Travel: 1. Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.Standard Minimum Qualifications:

Additional Minimum Qualifications: Education Required: 8. The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.
