POSITION PURPOSE - 

As a Network Architect you will be responsible for research, design, implementation and the lifecycle management for network technologies and architecture. You will leverage your broad and diverse technical experience to develop solutions that align with the department’s and organization’s strategic and/or tactical goals. Additionally you will have the opportunity to work closely with business and other IT groups to understand their objectives and IT requirements in order to provide cost-effective and standards based solutions.

  • Lead design, development, and deployment of technical and application solutions to meet business requirements that are cost effective and sustainable. 
  • Deliver conceptual, logical, and physical solution specifications.
  • Translate business requirements using complex methods and models to determine appropriate system solutions.
  • Provide input into annual budget planning for technology migrations and project cost estimation.
  • Research, identify, test, certify, and select technology products required for solution delivery.
  • Establish and implement technology migration strategies for a specific application or architecture within an IT portfolio.
  • Lead technology review meetings and ensure appropriate governance processes are followed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - 

  • Masters degree in related field. 
  • 10+ years’ experience in Network Engineering/Architect role
  • Expert technical proficiency in one or more of the following: routing (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VSAT, SSL/IPSECVPN, LTE), Layer 2 and 3 switching, Citrix Netscaler load balancing, network optimization and analysis. Comprehensive understanding of systems, applications, and integration with networks so that practical solutions can be provided that factor system performance, usability, quality, cross-system interdependencies, scalability, and overall cost to develop
  • and maintain.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.

Technical skills may also include experience with one or more of the following: Opnet, network infrastructure protocols (DNS, DHCP, SSL/TLS,SFTP, TACACS, RADIUS), retail applications, Windows platforms, LINUX platforms, VMare, security appliances/applications such as proxies, URL filtering, IDS/IPS, and NAC-802.1X.


MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES - Lead design, development, and deployment of technical and application solutions to meet business requirements that are cost effective and sustainable. NATURE AND SCOPE - Typically reports to Senior Architect, Senior Manager, or Director No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the leadership of a work group: assign and review work, train and contribute to performance appraisal (but not hiring, firing or disciplinary action). 

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - * Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. * Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - * Must be eighteen years of age or older. * Must pass the Drug Test. * Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses 

EDUCATION REQUIRED - The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job. 

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 9 

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES - Expert technical proficiency in one or more of the following: Retail applications, Windows platform, UNIX platforms, MVS COBOL, JAVA, J2EE, Relational Databases, Websphere Application Server, Websphere Commerce, Websphere MQ, Networking (Voice, LAN, WAN), SAP, Siebel, Peoplesoft. Comprehensive understanding of systems, applications, and/or networks so that practical solutions can be provided that factor system performance, usability, quality, cross-system interdependencies, scalability, and overall cost to develop and maintain. Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Strong oral and written communications skills.
