Maintenance Mechanic wanted for regional electricity generating power plant in the Coachella Valley. in this position, you will be responsible for installation, troubleshooting cleaning, inspection and maintenance of mechanical equipment throughout the facility. You will be working with pumps, valves, hydraulics, steam turbines and other equipment, ensuring safe operations.

Power Plant Operator  - Principal Duties 

  • Monitor and maintain equipment and machinery 
  • Perform preventative maintenance 
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems and perform repairs
  • Anticipate potential issues and find solutions
  • Respond and report to work as required for emergency repairs - Must be available
  • Overtime required during planned and unplanned outages
  • Attend and participate in safety meetings and training
  • Work and communicate with Plant Operators
  • Read, understand and apply operational information, instructions and procedure manuals

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED or equivalent work experience
  • 2 years minimum experience as a Mechanic, similar role preferred
  • Power Plant experience preferred
  • Experience with welding and fabrication preferred
  • Ability to operate a welder, cutting torch, electrical/power and manual hand tools
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment including loaders, backhoes, cranes, forklifts and water trucks
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, including documentation of work orders and two way radio communications with co-workers and management
  • Ability to interface effectively with plant mechanical and control systems
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and ability to follow established safety rules
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Must be able to perform the physical and environmental aspects of the job - Extreme temperatures, outdoor elements, lift heavy objects, sit or stand for extended periods, access and work at heights, heavy vibrations and loud noises, dirt and dust, ash and fuel particles, confined spaces work.
