Job Description & Qualifications:

Job Summary

Responsible for managing activities that establish and maintain effective employee and labor relations through uniform application of company policies, practices and applicable collective bargaining agreements. Provide consultation regarding a broad and complex range of employee relations situations that require comprehensive knowledge of employment law (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEOC, Title VII, WARN etc), and effective employee and labor relations practices. Ensure that all Human Resources practices are in compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and relevant federal, state and local statutes.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Manages various HR Compliance programs to include but not limited to Alertline, unemployment, employment verification, E-Verify and mandatory EAP referrals. Stays abreast of all applicable legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting HR activities to ensure the company-s policies, procedures, and reporting activities are in compliance with federal, state and local laws related to employment.
  • Manages HD Supply Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action Planning Programs in accordance with regulations, which include plan development, reporting, training and providing full cycle day to day support as well as OFCCP audit support.
  • Plays a lead role in the development of the company-s HR policies and procedures and ensures the company-s HR policies and procedures are compliant and remain current. Oversees a program of training to managers and associates to ensure understanding and compliance.
  • Works with management and associates to resolve problems that arise due to policy interpretations, procedural issues, job performance concerns, time off matters, harassment concerns, equal employment issues, etc.
  • Consults with management and HR business partners and makes recommendations regarding corrective actions for a wide range of conduct and performance issues and recommends disciplinary action as appropriate.
  • Seeks process improvement opportunities, audits standard HR processes and partners with process owners to implement process efficiencies.
  • Serves as an internal consultant, promoting the continuous development of field-based HR professionals with respect to labor relations. Provides day-to-day advice and counsel to various Human Resource and business leaders on labor relations matters to include contract interpretation, grievance resolution and other related labor and employment matters.
  • Plays a key role in maintaining management-represented status for all associates outside of the bargaining unit. Plans, develops and conducts labor relations training on a consistent basis. Partners with Legal to develop labor relations/union avoidance programs. Nature and Scope

  • Manages a group or team of professional individual contributors and/or indirectly supervises support staff. Work Environment
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time. Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be eighteen years of age
  • Must pass the Drug Test
  • Must pass the Background Check
  • Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable Education and Experience
  • Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline. Generally 7+ years experience in related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.
