The Senior Oracle database administrator (DBA) provides database and application administration support for the Burlington Stores, Inc. corporate office and all stores. The Senior DBA will install, configure, maintain, and administer Oracle databases and application server software that includes: RDBMS, RAC and ASM that run on the Linux platform. The Senior DBA will be a part of the team to monitor, tune, troubleshoot, secure, provide backup and recovery, capacity planning, change control, and ensure business continuity for these services. The senior DBA supports technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the group with respect to the database, application servers, and related storage and processing. Work with the DBA manager and DBA team to ensure the database and application software and configuration adhere to organizational procedures and practices. This position requires the ability to work nights and/or weekends as necessary.

• Install and configure Oracle software: RDBMS, RAC and ASM. Creates production, test, and development database environments and instances as required.
• Provide leadership to the DBA team and work alongside management to accomplish business initiatives. Work closely with the Sys Admins and Business Analysts.
• Backup and recovery: Create a backup strategy, transaction log strategy & management, disaster recovery planning. Create or review the backup strategy for the database test backups with periodic, regular restores. Clones/restore instances with RMAN.
• Storage: Configure and manage storage, including tablespaces and datafiles, redo log files, and control files. Anticipate storage requirements; create or modify storage structures as needed before files are filled and cause application errors.
• Security: Configure and manage security, including database auditing.
• Monitoring and Tuning: Monitor database performance, diagnose performance problems, and tune the database as necessary. Investigate, gather diagnostic data for, and report to Oracle Support Services any critical database errors. Configure and manage memory allocation and adjust as needed. Calculate optimum values for database parameters such as amount of computer memory to be used by database.
• Patching: Keep Oracle software up-to-date with the latest patch releases.

Scope and Impact:

- Position requires that the individual is able to work and serve as a team lead in a fast paced retail environment. This requires an understanding of the impact of any deployments, maintenance, modifications and/or downtime of systems to business and system operations.
- This individual is expected to take independent actions, when deemed necessary, to lead and ensure the team is prepared to support the organizational goals through the delivery and maintenance of stable technology.
- This individual is expected to be an active and contributing member of the team, support the troubleshooting of system issues, and working with other departments if needed, to successful resolution.
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal for technical and non-technical staff.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 5 years' experience as Oracle DBA. In lieu of Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of experience working as an Oracle Database Administrator, will accept 7 years plus of experience in Oracle Database Server Management or combination of education and experience.
• Expertise with Oracle Enterprise RDBMS 11g, including RAC and ASM.
• Experience working with Linux or similar enterprise systems.
• Experience writing SQL and UNIX shell scripting.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Expertise with Oracle Enterprise Manager for monitoring, alerts and backups.
• Expertise in Performance Enhancements with Oracle Databases.
• Provide leadership to the DBA team on proactive solutions as well as during critical systems (database) issues.
• Experience in the installation and configuration of Oracle WebLogic 11g.
• Ability to plan, schedule and manage upgrades and establish priorities
• Ability to work with end users to insure pre-release testing of vendor delivered enhancements and bug fixes.
