The position is responsible for assisting in the management of Store associate functions, providing daily direction to full-time and part-time associates, and through active leadership, communicate Company priorities in order to drive sales and achieve excellent guest service.

Responsibilities
A. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Promotes the Gordmans guest experience making sure that every guest receives prompt and friendly service through personal example and by providing direction as needed to associates to ensure they are friendly and responsive to guest needs. Ensures that all Associates understand expectations of our guest standards and the Guest Loyalty programs and initiatives.
2. Assists the Store Management in achieving or exceeding planned sales by effectively maintaining merchandise standards, exceeding in providing guest service, and the monitoring of performance goals and available reports.
3. Supervise associates while leading and developing personnel. Prioritizes and delegates work assignments and provides feedback on the completion of daily tasks.
4. Communicates, mentors, provides effective training, and sets personal example in order to promote talent within the organization.
5. Conducts observations and audits, and reviews productivity of the store associate team.
6. Drives sales through the execution of Standard Merchandising Procedures (SMP), Seasonal Layouts and other corporate merchandising directives.
7. Identify and communicate to management opportunities for increased sales; may develop and executes plans to realize those opportunities.
8. Monitor, record and assists in controlling store expenses and payroll to maximize profitability while operating within earned percent to sales goals.
9. Maintains confidentiality of store financial, sales and company information at all times.
10. Responsible for ensuring the timely movement of merchandise from the stockroom to the sales floor by utilizing rolling racks. Prepare merchandise by unboxing, sorting, ticketing and folding or hanging merchandise as required.
11. Handle guest inquiries. Understand basic guest inquiries about the location and price of merchandise, sale items, payment methods and related inquiries, and promptly communicate responses that are understandable by guests.
12. Accurately complete a number of administrative tasks including merchandise counts, price changes, transfers, returns and damages.
13. Maintains a quality work environment that encourages the retention of associates.
14. Ensure that the assigned departments and their furniture, fixtures, and equipment are clean, properly maintained, and pose no safety hazards and assists in contacting the appropriate people/company when repairs are necessary.
15. Follow company policies and procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
16. Detect common signs of ticket switching, mis-mated merchandise, shoplifting, theft and other security risks involving guests and associates. Promptly communicate potential problems to loss control.
17. Open Availability -- When business needs dictate it, Management and Leads must be flexible in terms of working hours and/or work schedule in order to manage the organization’s workflow (this includes nights and weekends).
18. Must be at work on a regular and predictable basis or as scheduled.

B.NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Assists Store Manager in assigning departments for the annual inventory.
2. May assist in stocking merchandise within assigned departments and the stockroom.
3. Performs other related duties and special projects as may be assigned from time to time by management.
4. Completes all yearly developmental training requirements for Associate Store Managers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Knowledge of company services and products, policies, and practices.
2. Ability to sufficiently understand the English language in order to communicate with individuals at all levels in the company and with various business contacts outside of the company in an articulate, professional manner.
3. Ability to read price tag information; ability to read guest checks, guest identification and similar written materials.
4. Basic English language writing skills for completion of payment processing and void paperwork on transactions.
5. Knowledge of off-price retail merchandising concepts and business management.
6. Basic mathematical skills necessary to verify cash register functions and to make proper change form cash payment.
7. Ability to grasp and lift or otherwise move merchandise weighing up to twenty pounds.
8. Visual ability, corrected, to observe and detect signs of shoplifting or dangerous behavior at a distance of 30 yards and to verify guest identification at a close range.
9. Ability to interview, select, train, and develop talented individuals.
10. Ability to resolve guest issues in a professional, diplomatic manner.
11. Ability to teach and train associates on the sales floor and on physically work with associates.
12. Knowledge of management principles and the ability to apply those principles to the management of associate populations. These principles refer to the “soft skills” that great managers utilize to manage people. Included but not limited to motivation, planning, organizing, delegating, communicating and resolving conflict.
13. Ability to learn and perform all essential job functions accurately with minimal direct supervision within two weeks after beginning work.
14. Ability to stand and continuously perform essential job functions for up to a ten hour shift, with two fifteen minute breaks and one half hour meal break.
15. Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead others towards the accomplishment of store and company objectives.
16. Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background screen and assessment test.

Education and Qualifications
1. Associate’s degree or equivalent retail management experience.
2. Minimum of 1 year of retail supervisory experience.
3. Minimum of 3-5 years of retail experience.
