Entrepreneur in Residence - Eden Prairie, MN - Full-time / Part-time

The Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) position requires an individual that is comfortable with uncertainty, "no roadmaps", playing multiple roles and daily change. EIRs are constantly in a state of learning and discovery, while always searching for repeatable and scalable business models. They are an individual driving force initially that has complete responsibility for all aspects of the product including customer and product development.
Our mission in the Garage (www.thegarage.us) is to create innovative health technology products and companies through an intensive incubator program. Our Entrepreneurs in Residence (EIRs) have access to our extensive network of healthcare experts and leaders, mass distribution channels, access to partners (e.g. providers, payer, services, corporations), technology to scale and regulatory & compliance expertise.
EIRs will effectively identify significant growth ideas, create the case for exploring and advancing the start up, build minimum viable products, iterate in market, and build toward commercialization. The ideal candidate for this role will have a proven track record bringing products or ventures to market and operating them - either as an entrepreneur, a product manager, or in other leadership capacities. If you routinely approach challenges with a "don’t get ready, get started" mentality, and like wearing many hats, being a hands-on builder, and being part of a creative and entrepreneurial environment, we are looking for you.
Primary Responsibilities:

Build new startups, products, services and offerings
Create dynamic business models through a data-driven decision process utilizing the Lean Startup methodology and tools
Create and own the vision and startup theses - considering consumer, technology and market trends
Iterate the ideas aggressively to hone in on and validate the consumer problem/friction, solutions and business model
Ability to balance the needs of the corporation with the desire to disrupt industry norms using a Lean Startup mentality
Direct and motivate the team to do what is needed to advance (or kill) a start up
Share the vision for the start up with senior executive team and bring them along on the journey of the work being done and insights gleaned from in-market Lean Innovation
"Get Out of the Building": Conduct ongoing face-to-face customer interviews to validate startup theses
Create initial product specifications to support solution interview stage and subsequent Minimal Viable Product development
Present findings, learnings, requirements and go-forward strategy to both the executive steering committee and portfolio management teams on a regular basis
Demonstrate metrics-based decision process for determining product iterations, pivots, resources and budget allocation
Develop and effectively manage capital plans and operating budgets (P&L) for all aspects of the emerging business
Collaborate with design, development, and marketing teams to execute product vision
Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g. executives, legal teams, other departments) to secure funding, support or advice

Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience/Track record of success effectively pitching new ideas and emerging business concepts in order to secure support and/or funding
Demonstrated experience creating and conducting presentations to executive leadership
Demonstrated experience working with accounting principles including capital planning, balance sheet and managing 1 or more P&Ls
8+ years of professional experience
3+ years of experience serving in an entrepreneurial capacity
Preferred Qualifications:

Technical chops: experience creating and managing digital products
Sales chops: experience creating and executing sales and marketing plans
Health care chops: knowledge of the healthcare industry and customer experiences within it
Corporate chops: experience working with a large, complex, global organization
Startup experience: working for a start-up or new product development organization
